Canadian embassy in China deletes ‘inappropriate’ NoRoomService tweet

The Associated Press

The tweet angered Canadians who saw it as an irresponsible jab at Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, two Canadians detained in China on Dec. 10, 2018, just days after the arrest in Vancouver of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou.

The tweet was deleted soon after The Globe and Mail sent a request for comment to Global Affairs Canada. The Canadian government has issued multiple travel advisories about China since the arrests of the two Canadians, which Ottawa has called “arbitrary” and critics have likened to “hostage diplomacy.”Those advisories strike a significantly more serious tone than the embassy tweet.

Ya and I want an apology from china that everytime I go to china town ,those huge fuckin signs with asian letters I find them inappropriate. 😂😂😂

Any Canadian still doing business in China is a greedy little shit who will eventually run afoul of the Chinese authorities and end up in jail. And when they do let them stew in the pot they’ve cooked.

China wants an apology for free speech. freespeech freeHongKong
