Ontario said more than 89 per cent of long-term care home staff members have received at least one shot, but only approximately 66 per cent of staff are fully immunized.

continues across Canada, Ontario became the first province to make receiving the shot mandatory for staff members at long-term care homes.

Lior Samfiru, an employment lawyer and co-founding partner at Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, said legally, employers cannot demand that employees be vaccinated. When it comes to long-term care homes, Samfiru said the Ontario government has ultimately decided that those living in the facilities are vulnerable, and having un-vaccinated employees is too “risky” and is unsafe.

Bowman said while he “supports vaccinations fully,” he is “not a strong supporter at all of mandatory vaccination.”Story continues below advertisement “I think we have to be very careful,” he said. “I think it’s justified in the case of long term care homes I’m not sure it’s justified in many other settings.”42 recommendations made after Alberta long-term care review

They didn't say they would have to be Vaccinated. They have to take the course if they refuse. So what happens after the course and they still refuse

Vaccines should not be mandatory ever. No treatment medication or test should ever be mandatory. I’m not anti vaxer. I just draw the line at mandatory

Well it was the workers that brought it into the homes, the people in the homes don't go anywhere so that had to be brought to them. So yeah get them vaccinated. 🤔

“Instead, Samfiru said employers must rely on governments to determine whether a workplace is safe if its employees have not been vaccinated.” I think if the last year has proved anything, it’s that most workplaces aren’t safe against things like viruses 🤷🏻‍♀️

That is bs! How is that legal you know they aren't safe if they force you to take it!

They should be mandatory

Vacines for Ltc workers should be mandatory as they are working in the residents home and they should feel safe in their own home. If workers don't care about this they should work somewhere else.

But if everyone in long term care is vaccinated.................

This would be heartbreaking if a staff caught covid and then all the long term care residents had to quarantine because of the staff member.

Are they also “conflicted” about smallpox?
