Book on Antigonish uncovers community’s history through archival photos | SaltWire

With almost 140 photographs, Antigonish: A History in Pictures captures the heritage and legacy of the community. CONTRIBUTEDPeggy Thompson has attempted to capture the people, heritage and beauty of one of Nova Scotia’s most historical towns in a new coffee table book.

“But I tried to build a little history I tried to find some interesting tidbits and facts that would be suitable for a coffee table book.” In fact, she was surprised to find some of the most interesting images in more unexpected places like the McCord Stewart Museum in Montreal and even further afield.

After all, since 2010, she has been the administrator of a popular Facebook group titled Old Photos of Antigonish Town and Antigonish County, where she has compiled images and created a growing community of thousands of followers.
