Bipartisan Senate bill would halt arms sales to Turkey
WASHINGTON - A bipartisan Senate bill would halt U.S. military assistance to NATO ally Turkey and clamp sanctions on the U.S. assets of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan because of his country's invasion Wednesday of northern Syria.
Trump told reporters at the White House that he agreed with sanctions but seemed to condition that on Turkey's actions inside Syria.
Van Hollen said in an interview that the removal of U.S. forces from the area, where there had been hundreds of American troops, was a “total betrayal” of allied Kurds.
Erdogan sent his forces into Syria even though Trump had previously threatened to “totally destroy and obliterate” Turkey's economy if their push went too far.
Trump has said he doesn't want the U.S. to fight “these endless, senseless wars.” He also criticized Graham for favouring the deployment of too many troops overseas.
Associated Press writers Kevin Freking and Robert Burns contributed to this report.Read more: CP24
This is meaningless posturing. The US has been arming Turkey for decades and now expresses mock outrage. For invading Syria, Turkey should be expelled from NATO. Better yet - NATO should be disbanded. They don’t sell for a long time what is the purpose ?

Trump shifts tone on Turkey in effort to halt Syria invasionIn a span of 24 hours, U.S. President Donald Trump moved from threatening to obliterate Turkey's economy if it invades Syria to inviting its president to visit the White House. Reports of F-16s hitting targets. Can you do a story on how Turkey got F-16. Journalism leaves so many unanswered questions these days.
Kurds mobilize in northeast Syria, brace for imminent attack from Turkish troopsBritain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported Wednesday that people were fleeing the border town of Tal Abyad, Syria — which Turkey is expected to attack first. What makes the Kurds such great allies? What do they contribute? Let the middle east fight it's own tribal wars, bring NATO troops home. Another war ffs.
White House spurns House impeachment probe as illegitimateThe White House declared it will halt any and all co-operation with what it termed the 'illegitimate' impeachment probe by House Democrats, sharpening the constitutional clash between U.S. President Donald Trump and Congress.
