Many Annapolis Valley farmers are breathing a sigh of relief following hurricane Fiona’s destructive route through Nova Scotia. | SaltWire

Fruit growers were assessing the damage Sept. 25 in the wake of the storm that dumped upwards of 120 mm of rain on parts of Kings County with wind gusts of 100 km/h. Keddy said they received about 40 mm of rain in Lakeville.

Keddy said a couple of apple growers she had talked to had experienced some drops but not to the extent of hurricane Dorian in 2019.Lutz mentioned farmers and industry officials were assessing the potential for the spread of fire blight, which is a significant risk during and after big storms.
