Andrew Coyne explains why permanent deficits are bad for Canada: 10/3 podcast

Failing to put Canada’s fiscal house in order means less room for spending during a recession, less wealth for future generations and an inability to make budget priorities.

Emily Jackson and Coyne take a deep dive into why governments feel it is necessary to constantly spend beyond their means. They don’t want to anger voters, and they don’t want to appear less generous than their opponents.

acoyne theemilyjackson None of the party ldrs are taking deficits seriously say acoyne & theemilyjackson Failing 2 put Cnd’s fiscal house in order means less room 4 spending during recession & less wealth 4 future generations What planet are you ppl on? PeoplesPartyofCanada acoyne theemilyjackson Nonsense! MaximeBernier and the PPC are focused on balancing the budget. They are the only party not promising “freebies” to the electorate. JT’s taken his Dad’s game to the next level. PET discovered he could buy peoples’ votes with their own money. JT is using their kids doe.

acoyne theemilyjackson FakeNewsMedia keep spreading nonesence even if their argument can be proved false by a quick online search! Thousands of Canadians heard on live TV that PeoplesPartyofCanada cares about deficit and have plans to BALANCE THE BUDGET IN 2 YEARS! acoyne theemilyjackson Per David Rosenberg: Don’t be fooled by the 53.7k Canadian jobs jump, timed perfectly for the election campaign. All government -private sector plunged 21k, 2nd slide in the past 3 months. Hours worked ⬇️0.3%, more people employed but doing less (the vagaries of legalizing pot!)

acoyne theemilyjackson Except for the big banks and their crypto supporters. acoyne theemilyjackson The colour red is the LDP norm: The Liberal Deficit Party. acoyne theemilyjackson Bernier in 2 years, but what else would you expect from a leftist rag. Leftists just burying the PPC at every attempt

acoyne theemilyjackson That's because we have a AAA credit rating and interest is lower than inflation. Not borrowing, when there are so many growth opportunities, would be idiotic. acoyne theemilyjackson The guys with the big smiles don't care, because they will be long gone. acoyne Coyne knows nothing of deficits or the economy. he's just bitter Justin's dad knocked up his cousin.

The LPC crew don’t care no point in telling them over and over. They are all about what Canadian Government can give them not what they can do for the Country. Crazy world

Couple of liberal clowns. If a large national debt is a burden on future generations how do you explain the 25 years after WW2. Canada went from a massive debt to GDP to 18% in 1970. 25 years that were golden for the economy? acoyne If chronic deficits of 3% and debt to GDP causes inflation how do you explain Japan?

acoyne A non partisan duscussion would have been nice. Both talked about the 'camping' credit but nothing about the deduction for ballet lessons. 2 crooks and 2 books. To the dismay of all Canadians, after four years of planning Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum present their book of empty promises. A sovereign nation is not a household. Also, what are you willing to cut to pay down the debt? Health care transfers? Education? Infrastructure?

acoyne God help you Canada if these buffoons win again. acoyne This is no laughing matter, “Failing to put Canada’s fiscal house in order means less room for spending during a recession, less wealth for future generations and an inability to make budget priorities”. PMs Chretien and Martin understood this, why don’t Canadians care anymore

The fact that this needs an explanation is an indictment of every education department in the country.

Andrew Scheer on Justin Trudeau: ‘He does not deserve to govern this country’‘He’s been running away from his record this entire campaign,’ the Conservative leader told the Post So he deserve? To run the country? Totally disagree But Andrew “licence plate gopher” Scheer does?

acoyne No kidding. What has happened to common sense in Canada? Let’s get back to basics. Firstly, through out the bums. acoyne Wow very impressive, you and theemilyjackson managed to get virtually everything wrong yet again acoyne acoyne Ya cause debt is always bad. Cause none of us have a mortgage or car loans and or student loans....we are all debt free

acoyne Cause the conservatives have 75% of our debt? The only ones to pay down the debt was jean Chrétien/ Paul Martin? Because it needs explaining? Duh And your expertise in this subject is acoyne Something tells me people who already know this are the only ones going to pay attention. Everyone just wants the government to take care of every aspect of their life, which results in politicians promising more and more every election with seemingly no end to it

I'll never forget those budget books Trudeau and Morneau are holding, cost taxpayers 200,000 $$$ for those Liberal books. J Flaherty's budget books 650$. That is the financial difference that sets these parties apart. Fiscally responsible vs. Lavish spenders that don't care. Buying votes of Canadians using Canadian's tax money !!!

Terence Corcoran: The case is clear for Andrew ScheerIn Monday’s debate, the Conservatives offered the soundest policy options and ignored the extremist positions fpcomment fpcomment Except it’s not clear. His full platform has not been released, he stands against Climate Change and the LGBTQ. He LIES ALL THE TIME. This ain’t it, Fam. ScheerNonsense ScheerAmerican fpcomment If by clear you mean he's a garbage opposition leader just marginally above Maxime Bernier, then yes, you have a clear case for that. cdnpoli elxn43

The bottom line is they make money for England and France otherwise they lose their jobs, right? A permanent deficit for a subsidiary country is usually what it's all about and will always be. The advertised hope they give Canadians is awesome though, it really is... Nope! Absolutely not true! Trudeau said so, why would the PM of Canada lie to its citizens? Are you calling the most successful and effective (self proclaimed) PM in history a liar?

My child who is taking grade 1 math can also explain why constantly running deficits is bad .... only our buffoon PM and FM don’t understand what the minus sign means. Wow really

Ellen DeGeneres explains why she attended an NFL game with George W. BushEllen DeGeneres addressed the somewhat surprised Twitter reaction to her appearance at an NFL game with George W. Bush, saying she is friends with the former U.S. president. Here's why: her wealth insulates her from even one iota of harm that this man did, and his party continues to do to marginalized communities. She built a brand on fighting for LGBTQ rights, but when the cameras are off, wealth trumps principle. thehamptoneffect Fantastic reply by Ellen. Well said, more people need to follow in her footsteps I do see that back in the day he attempted to ban gay marriage. However I am still with Ellen here, you can be in the same room with people and have different points of view. Heck you can enjoy something together when you have different opposing views.

Scheer blames ‘troubling’ Canadian economy on Trump, Trudeau policiesConservative leader Andrew Scheer insisted that as prime minister he would help Canada deal with any global downturn by cutting taxes, working to attract more investment and balancing the federal books. FFS Cough ScheerMadness
