Ahead of a pivotal game against the Calgary Flames, the free-falling Edmonton Oilers are feeling the heat. Three men in particular are under immense pressure -- head coach Dave Tippett, GM Ken Holland and goalie Mikko Koskinen. (SportsnetSpec)

Go gas up the truck? Better go to a self-serve, or the pump jockey will want to know how that first goal snuck through your glove hand last night against Florida.

Their seats are so hot they eat dinner standing up, the tension so high that even the family dog has asked for separate vacations. We don’t see Tippett getting fired any time soon no matter what happens Saturday night when the Calgary Flames come to town, agame that folks will watch from coast to coast like rubberneckers on the Don Valley Parkway. Nobody can avert their eyes from a good wreck -- and that perfectly describes these Edmonton Oilers -- but that doesn’t mean Holland is going to fire a head coach in the middle of the season for the first time as a National Hockey League general manager.

It’s hard even to watch poor Koskinen take the nets these days, as the oddsmakers make lines on who has less confidence in the six-foot-seven Finn. His teammates, or himself. “Getting a win in your division is a good way to start, grab two points here and start moving in the right direction.”

Spec Are the EdmontonOilers honestly staring Koskinen. Fuck

Spec Not a peep about the fact that Dustin Schwartz shoulda been shit canned years ago . He should be at the top of the list , he'd rather let his players take it on the chin though ..

Spec Resting for over a week and played against one of the worst team, senators, and lost miserably. That was the pivotal turning point in the mind of many. Now another pivotal point again. What happens nothing changes again? What can really trigger a change then?

Spec We have sports reporters talking about what oilers should do. All they can do is blame the goalies which they be doing for the last 20 years. That's there answer all we blame the goalie. Everyone knows oilers have the worst defensemen in the NHL. You can't win with BAD DEFENSE.

Spec Bob Nicholson is actually to blame, yes, Holland is to blame also. Daryl Katz needs to pull a Canucks, fire everyone and bring someone in with proven salary cap experience with success.

Spec Spec, I believe Nicholson is the biggest problem. You can’t just get away with hiring your buddies.

Spec Go Flames!

Spec No mention the two biggest issues:Nicholson and our D core. We downgraded our D this summer and spent more on it…and its going to be even pricier next year

Spec Mystery why Dustin Schwartz is never mentioned by the media. Does Nicholson & Lowe have that much control over them to protect their golden boy?

Spec And once again - the Goalie Coach is flying under the radar . . .

Spec how about playing empty net and bringing in an extra attacker for the whole game?

Spec Really? How is their “generational” offensive talent not at fault?

Spec Yet another first overall pick should fix things...

Spec Koskinen is not under any pressure, he is a backup goalie with the contract of a starter, holland should have signed markstrom, all of this is on him

Spec Koskinen is a minor league goalie at best. This team sucks.

Spec You forgot one Oilers

Spec I smell Mike Babcock in the air unless Connor wants out of town.

Spec What

No goals, no goaltending, no answers: Oilers simply look lostThe Edmonton Oilers are not the worst team in the NHL. But they've been playing like it for too long now. So something has to change. Because as the Oilers exist today, this collection of players and coaches can not effect change by themselves. Spec Better than my Flyers…sheesh Spec Who cares? Button: If goaltending isn't addressed, the Oilers will continue to have problemsAfter a strong start to the season, the Oilers lost their seventh straight, and fell to 2-11-2 in its last 15 games. TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button explains what has gone wrong for the team, including capitalizing on opportunities and goaltending. CraigJButton Guess some scoring would help, too? CraigJButton Will be a lot of pressure on 23 year old Ilya Konovalov to stop the bleeding in his debut on Saturday night. emanningwrites CraigJButton The lazy journalism continues. They score 0 and Kosk/goaltending is to blame. How about taking a Look at the team defence for instance? It usually fixes the offence too. I have rarely seen worse defending than today. And whos fault is that?

Public Health Agency of Canada involved in 'error' on trucker vaccine rules: CP sources | CBC NewsTurmoil and confusion over whether truckers would remain exempt from the vaccine mandate last week stemmed from bureaucrats misinterpreting policy in more than one federal agency — including the one that co-ordinates Canada's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. What the phac? This is not the right thing to be done A small minority looking for a loophole. The unvaxxed truckers will be stuck in Canada for their protest since the US is implementing the same rule as of January 22. Even protesting at border crossings would be just as illogical for the 'restoration of rights and freedoms'.
