Teal independent member for Warringah Zali Steggall unloaded on Prime Minister Scott Morrison at a National Press Club debate in Canberra, saying she questioned his trustworthiness and moral compass.
Warringah independent candidate Zali Steggall said Scott Morrison’s support of Katherine Deves was one reason that she didn’t trust him.“We need stability of government,” she said. “But I do have issues of trust with the prime minister.” The latter was a reference to Mr Morrison’s “captain’s pick” appointment of Katherine Deves as the Liberal candidate for Warringah,“I’ve observed him over the last three years and I have repeatedly observed failure to step up to leadership positions,” Ms Steggall said.
While each outlined both spending and revenue measures, all dodged whether they would push the government to adopt their policies in a revenue neutral way or just adopt spending that would drive up debt.
Australian democracy needs reform on donations to politicians & parties, reform on politicians expenses, enforceable codes of parliamentary conduct, political advertising & political appointments & an effective Federal ICAC. Independents have promoted all these, LNP supports none
