'The world has changed': Why shows like Blackadder, Young Ones wouldn't work todayWe find ourselves in a watershed moment in cultural history says writer and comedian Ben Elton — and some past glories will never be recreated. We live in a melting pot of 'diversity,' where shared cultural heritage is virtually non existent. We no longer provide a classical education in the principles and philosophical foundations of Western Civilization. So comedies which riff off these timeless themes fall flat.
