Putin’s saber-rattling doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll deploy nukes. But he certainly could

on Wednesday. The president is also right to maintain ambiguity about how the United States might respond if Russia detonated a nuclear weapon.

After that, de-escalation would be hard. The United States and Nato nuclear powers would come under pressure for a nuclear strike of their own – probably on Russia itself, due to a lack of other options. With its conventional forces in disarray, Russia’s likely response to this strike would be to broaden the nuclear conflict to Nato.deploying a large conventional US force

The whole world should want to avert this scenario. The United States and its allies need to deploy all the leverage they can – carrots as well as sticks – to get China, India, and other G20 countries to condemn Russia’s nuclear threat. The tepid reception Putin got from India and China earlier this week seems like a sign these rising powers understand the stakes for their own futures.

A ceasefire would help to calm the situation and avoid further escalation, but convincing the Ukrainians to accept one is going to be extremely hard now that they have the momentum on the battlefield. Russia’s disastrous plan to annex the regions makes negotiations all the less appealing because it effectively takes these regions off the table.

World leaders react to Putin’s nuclear weapon threatThe world's leaders have reacted to Russian President Vladimir Putin's nuclear weapon threat, with US President Joe Biden using his speech at the UN General Assembly in New York to encourage member nations to take action. In front of Russia's delegates, Mr Biden called the threats by the Russian President a direct violation of the UN Charter and also reiterated his position on the referendums to be held in occupied Ukraine regions. UK Prime Minster Liz Truss met the US President shortly after to discuss heightened global tensions. Ms Truss is calling for a united front from the West in response to Putin's threat of nuclear warfare. Weird.... They didn't behave like that after the US actually used nukes,.... twice.....on a surrendering nation,.....in civilian areas..... Almost as if the US is the biggest terrorist state ever to exist. “Surrendering nation”? Dude what history book did you read?

A decision tree for Biden if Putin goes nuclearThe world has three options if Vladimir Putin takes the nuclear option: cut Russia from the Western world; deploy tactical nukes for show or strike Russian forces; or plan for regime change. If there is a nuclear war, there will not be many humans left for the Military Industrial Complex and the 1 percentile to sanctions or suppress or be servants to them. It's fucking scary when such MSM is openly talking about nuclear holocaust instead of pushing for peace 😩 President Biden Putin Peter the great 🚀🚀🚀💣🧨☢️☢️☢️☢️☢️☢️ There is only 2 options . Joe Biden responds to Vladimir Putin’s threatsUS President Joe Biden has called out several nations for nuclear activity and asked the United Nations General Assembly to recommit to the Non-Proliferation Treaty after threats from Vladimir Putin. Since Britain and the United States can not abide by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, why must China and Russia abide by it? Australia can obtain nuclear submarines, as can countries such as Iran and North Korea. Is it a threat to say you’ll defend yourself? “If the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will without doubt use all available means to protect Russia and our people”. How about committing to the complete denuclearization of the planet, meaning all nations including Israel commit to the complete abolishment of their respective nuclear weapon stockpiles. Nuclear technology should only be used for peaceful purposes.
