Shadow Education Minister tanya_plibersek says the Labor Party never want anyone to say no to an extra hour of work simply because “they can’t afford childcare”.

Shadow Education Minister Tanya Plibersek says the Labor Party never want anyone to say no to an extra hour of work simply because “they can’t afford childcare”. Labor wants to increase the subsidy per dollar that families spend on childcare from 85 cent to 90 cents. This subsidy would be available to every household earning below $530,000.

“We know this is one of the biggest bills that families face and we want to help them out with that bill,” she said. “And of course, it’s good for kids as well.” Ms Plibersek told Sky News host Alan Jones Labor's proposed subsidy increase for childcare would benefit the national economy also, by allowing greater involvement in the workforce. “I don’t want people locked out of the workforce because of the high cost of childcare.

Labor supports 'fundamentally important' gas industry: Deputy | Sky News AustraliaDeputy Labor leader Richard Marles says gas is a “fundamentally important” industry for Australia and his party supports it, despite some internal tensions on energy policy.\n\nThis comes as the CMFEU and AWU urged the Labor caucus to unify its stance on gas and coal.\n\nThe key takeaway from the meeting between the unions and Labor was that Australia would inevitably move to clean energy, but coal and gas will still be needed for some time yet.\n\n“Australia is the largest gas exporter in the world, of course we support the gas industry,” Mr Marles told Sky News.\n\n“We understand how important the role of it is in electricity generation.\n\n“Gas matters.”\n RichardMarlesMP Did he say that? or did Rupert say that? RichardMarlesMP Why do I think that's probably bullshit ? RichardMarlesMP Does Albo, Bill and the rest of the gang know this. Unions urge Labor to support gas, coal | Sky News AustraliaUnions are urging Labor to unify on energy policy by supporting gas and coal.\n\nIt is understood about 30 Labor MPs and Senators from both the left and right factions attended a briefing by the CMFEU and the AWU.\n\nThe key takeaway was that Australia would inevitably move to clean energy, but coal and gas will still be needed for some time yet, and that needs to be reflected in Labor’s polices. \n The CFMEU and AWU need to get ready really really soon to fight like hell for a just transition for their members. Gas and coal are going away. Our customers are moving away. Investors are divesting. I find it interesting that the Unions are taking an approach of ‘urging’ rather than the normal stand over and bullying tactics of the elected politicians that participate in the Union-ALP Party. This was evident when Palaszczuk said that Trad wont be in her ministry....
