ANALYSIS: With 24 hours to Queensland election day, did the LNP leave costings too late?

But as Mr Mander pointed out, the LNP had no choice but to make its own projections, as the Palasazczuk Government has not produced a budget this year.

The release of these costings is unlikely to make much difference to the campaign — there's only one day left and half of the electorate has already voted. Which begs another question: Why did the LNP choose to identify tackling debt as a defining issue so early in the campaign when Queensland, and indeed the rest of the world, is mired in an unpredictable global recession?

The downside was that it opened the door for Labor to resurrect the ghost of Campbell Newman — the LNP premier who lost the biggest parliamentary majority in Queensland history in 2015, largely because of his cuts to the public service."On the eve of Halloween, Deb Frecklington wants to resurrect Campbell Newman's horror show," Mr Dick said.

It was debt and its effect on the public service that led to Ms Frecklington's first stumble of the campaign, when she struggled toThe LNP also kept the controversy alive by deciding not to release their costings until the very end of the campaign. But the coronavirus pandemic has ensured this is not a normal campaign — the extension of early polling and postal voting has fundamentally changed the campaign dynamics.

No they're so full of holes, some & morrior & holes promises, it would have been much worse for the LNP if the costings had been released sooner.

No, standard practice for oppositions these days.

Making grandiose economic and social policy statements doesn’t work with the electorate. You need to explain how it’s going to be paid for, and put forward modeling to support your arguments. A lot of hot air is a typical politician stance. Simple comparative data is useful.

Timing of LNP costings has to be directly related to the Qld economy, with QldLabour FAILING to deliver a budget the LNP were forced by Labour’s TARDINESS to link their coatings to Labour costings only released a few days ago. ABC let’s lay the responsibility where it belongs

All part of the plan.

I have never ever understood why there’s an assumption the LNP are good at finances. They are like a compulsive eater, weighing 600 pounds. They may LOVE food - but does that mean you get them to cook in the kitchen? What sort of meals do you think you‘d have? Mountains of crap

No. They like being unaccountable.

Nope. The old who use postal votes we’re duped. Didn’t know their services would be cut to the bone. Grubby timing

Queensland do you want another Campbell Newman Type Government
