While we may be looking forward to the end of the coronavirus crisis, health experts warn there may be more pandemics ahead of us.

we've "dodged five bullets" with SARS, MERS, Ebola, avian influenza and swine fluBut despite the knowledge gained from those experiences, we were still largely unprepared for the coronavirus crisis. And the speed of its spread highlights the dangers posed by a hyper globalised world in a pandemic.

Globalisation has also caused profound changes in the conditions that help shape infectious diseases, particularly those that originate in wildlife. These incidents occur when a virus mutates enough times to allow it to jump to another species and requires close contact between the host species and the species it's moving into. It is believed a spillover event is what sparked the coronavirus pandemic.

Zoonoses are caused by the transmission of pathogens such as viruses, parasites, bacteria or fungi either by direct contact or indirect contact between animals and people. This can be through the environment with the help of vectors or carriers. But while these viruses are of ongoing concern, it is the yet to be identified viruses that "pose an equal if not more serious threat to humanity study" according the authors behindThe WHO has even given this unknown threat its own classification: Disease X, and listed it alongside Ebola and SARS as a top priority for research.

There have also been other, smaller outbreaks that have demonstrated the risk that exists at the "interfaces" between human activity and wildlife. One example is Nipah virus disease — which has been listed as one of the World Health Organization's top-10 priority diseases."There were also bats living in that region as well. And then they planted fruit trees around the pig farm and so that encouraged bats to that pig farm inadvertently," she said.

No doubt another one is being planned right now...

Another reason for the Governments to keep lock down. People are going to die anyway, that's just life. Sad as it is, there is nothing we can do about it.

SaysChez Cause they know CHINA is in the process of manafacturing another one! Why not! They got away with their attempt to cripple the free world the FIRST TIME! LNP in Australia, just took it up the arse and even allowed them to increase tariffs by 400% without retaliation!

HOW TRUE IS THIS OR IS IT ALL RUBBISH NEWS

Must keep that perpetual fear running like the neurotic paranoid sick regime of the US

luciastein_ More FUD narrative propaganda written by a journalist who seems to have no medical background 🤔

Keep the fear fresh daily news

😂

Not a surprise. Our country needs quarantine facility for each State and Territory.

Well, considering this virus doesn’t affect all ages equally, and doesn’t affect everyone reliably, no shit.

Love an article that manages to stir up all the usual the deniers, anti-vaxxers, backyard epidemiologists and other flat earthers.

Of course it isn't. The fact that we're still here to talk about it proves that.

Because they are still making these things through gain of function research done in Wuhan funded by the US through Dr Fauci

More scaremongering, walking past someone with the virus and you get it? Give it a miss.

More rubbish “news” from the abc.

More fear fuk off

We know the elites are planning to murder us some more. It’s what the 💩stains do for fun

Total Corona Virus deaths in 2020, 1.97 million. Total human population growth in the same year, 81 MILLION, or a country the size of Germany. The human race birth and build a country the size of America, every 4.25 years.

We are the most over populous species on the planet. Nature always tries to find balance by culling a too densely populated species. This planet isn't ours to do as we wish. A nastier pandemic will definitely happen. Nature always rules.

Palestinian Authority rejects Israel offer of 1 million soon-to-expire COVID-19 vaccinesThe Palestinian Authority will not accept an offer from Israel for 1 million doses of coronavirus vaccines, hours after the deal was announced on Friday, saying the shipment did not meet standards. I love how this article doesn’t actually state WHY they are refusing these vaccines. What conditions were put on them Given Australia cant seem to get an effective vaccination programme happening, why would we expect a war torn community without electricity security to manage it.
