at GQ for a while. Perhaps this is the masculine mode: anonymously ask a question, get a straight answer. Elsewhere, it feels like affairs of the heart are snuck into writing directed at straight men like vegetables into a child’s dinner. A recent New York Times article about the podcaster Scott Gallowayhe smuggled relationship content into advice about career paths.
When I asked them why they think the straight man relationship writing genre doesn’t exist, they were unanimously of the view that it just wouldn’t work. “I would see a dating column by a straight dude as undignified,” one said. “If it’s going well, it comes off braggy and vulgar, and if it’s going poorly, stop whinging in print.” So maybe it’s not surprising that a lot of male writers wouldn’t touch this subject with a bargepole.
Men are, in fact, talking about their sex and dating problems, but they’re not doing it in the media under their names. It’s happening anonymously on places like Reddit. A lot of this stuff is toxic garbage, yes, but plenty of it isn’t. The question may be more why no man has stepped forward to do this under his own name, in public.
A male perspective on dating & sex is a no-go subject these days. Inevitably someone will interpret the writing as misogynistic, no matter what is written. Just imagine the moral outrage if the awful things that are written about men everyday were applied to women!

Because not once have I ever thought about it
Lack of EQ Brain is still developing Too much on mind (sport, guitars, etc.) We might have to ask instructions on how to get started (writing)
Too much sport to think about
Their choice. I think it’s sad that people cannot accept others choices just because they don’t understand.
So the left are now asking why straight men aren't speaking up after ostracising them with anti men rhetoric for the past decade Ok then.... 🤡🤡🤡🤡
I’ll write about it for you. All I need is for you to promise you won’t get angry with the casual sexist jokes
They don’t because news outlets would brand them as women haters and the ‘M’ word if they were honest about some of their dates.
Because we are straight men.
