Nurse who blew the whistle on his hospital has died. His legacy should be remembered

In 2005, he got a job as a spinal technician — equivalent to an orderly — at Melbourne's Austin Hospital, Victoria's only spinal hospital and one of the leading neurological centres in the country.Among the close-knit group of nurses on the ward, some became lifelong friends.

Over the next several days, Griffin believed Wilson displayed clear signs of an imminent stroke. Griffin had reported some of those signs and tried to get Wilson the treatment he thought he needed, but his efforts were dismissed.Rory Wilson at home in his wheelchair He complained to one authority after another, including the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency and the minister for health. All either accepted the hospital's account or told him the matter was outside their jurisdiction.Griffin succumbed to mental illness — the fate of so many whistleblowers.

May he rest in peace, and cover ups in us are starting to emerge as common place and the political beat goes on

If only more Nurses would be game to be whistleblowers. He was bullied in the end. Bullying has a higher cost to lives in Nurses and Midwives with the professions FOUR times at risk of suicide than the general population. He paid the ultimate price for integrity and honesty. RIP.

Some whistleblowers don’t want to live in a world where this is the normal way people behave and not the exception. How many people express their grief now he is dead but did nothing to offer support while he was alive?

😔

A tragedy, no human should be treated with such ongoing punishment. It is the role of a nurse to be an advocate for their patient. Mr Griffin went above and beyond. RIP bless your soul 💜

So sad. May there now be peace 💐

Very, very sad.

Very sad and heartbreaking.

Deepest sympathy to his family and friends

One of the sweetest people I have ever met. RIP 💕

Your name & kindness won't be forgotten, Tim. May you rest in eternal peace now.

AHPRA is useless...

RIP TIM...

A tragic, tragic account. RIP a good and decent man. May others take up his legacy and continue to fight for what is right. It should never require a fight at all. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Society needs people like Tim Griffen. All sympathy to his family.

Melbourne Hospital can go back to MAFS now.

This is what happened to me at Austin... 1)I went to the emergency department at Austin hospital in extreme pain. I was told that I had a kidney stone. I was given three morphine shots and twice was a suppository used...

4)you don’t know nothing about me. And that’s when he started his rant. He goes “ I am not supposed to be at Austin as I live in sunshine and he’s not going to let me stay here. I responded by saying when I was paying for the hospital services I presented...

3) and he said “ how can you be asleep when you are in such great pain” I opened my eyes but didn’t said anything. After sometime he came back again and asked my cousin “ is this guy a drug addict”? To which I responded can you please show some respect...

RIP 🙏🙏

2) and the following night I showed again at the hospital. My cousin did called an ambulance but I was in extreme pain and he took me by himself to the hospital. There was this dr by the name Rajeev manny who came in the morning I had my eyes closed...

God bless you Tim

His obsession became psychiatric illness. Before treating him as a “hero whistleblower”, I’d really like to know how he could “tell” that the patient was “about to have a stroke” days before. As a specialist, I’d really be interested in what signs he saw that we don’t know about.

Tim Griffen belonged to a high-risk profession. Was he made aware of that when he started?

Very sad .. and great shame on Austin Hospital for their behaviour

😢😢

I cud relate to this

A tragic story. Not too surprised about the hospital involved.

Shameful...and this is why corporations governments get away with this because they bukkt the person who take a a stand Shameful to all thos people that bullied him

His sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Not all hero's wear capes

Yet another reason for whistle blower protector laws. 🙏

Just heartbreaking. What an incredible human being. May he rest in peace.

But you can continue his legacy AASGAAbuse schitzoziris If you shall wish nickbarnesaus Disillu31110791 FAustralians cporterwa MathiasCormann JennyMikakos 🐷🐷🐷👹😤🤮🦠🐒👇

Yes indeed very very sad 😞

Blessed are the whistleblowers who risk all to make us honest and to help us build a trustworthy world. May their spirits keep haunting us.

Very sad
