the problem is Private Certifiers, they have and are known to be in the pocket of developers, the Government alone should be responsible for the certification of buildings.

Unqualified cheap imported labour.

LauraCrommo 'As the population of Australia's capital cities grows' should read: 'As Canberra continues with a high immigration program'. The easiest way to 'solve' the apartment problem is to reduce immigration. It has to be done anyway because of looming energy shortages

Silence from NSW Fair Trade is deafening. They issued licence to the building contractor. They have powers under the Home Building Act to issue rectification orders prosecute/cancel builders licence. Antiquated NSW builder licensing qualifications major factor in quality decline

There needs to be deeper investigation into the prevalence of private certifiers signing off on inspections of defective work and/or work deviating from the approved plans.

Cheap and shitty developer and building practices

Shoddy cost cutting workmen ship

Cracked Opal Tower just 'tip of iceberg' in under regulated building industryThe Sydney Opal Tower incident is just the “tip of the iceberg” in a building industry content to dodge corners with its “she’ll be right” culture, experts warn. Is there any fact in this or just another bullshit thought bubble. I think it is Greed & corrupt authorities are the root cause of fostering an environment for dodgy operations. No, that’s an alarmist view. While that view certainly has merit, the Strata Community Association & Builders Collective have a vested interest in representing that viewpoint doyourresearch tabloidjournaliam
