Travel agents have staged a 'National Travel Day of Action' pleading for financial support and a lifting of restrictions. 9News

Travel agents staged a "National Travel Day of Action" yesterday, with up to 15 to 20 agents attending each office of 25 government MPs across the country to tell the pain the travel industry has experienced in the two years since COVID-19 hit.

Campaign organiser, Belle Goldie, who owns the itravel agency in Penrith in western Sydney, said the mental and financial toll on people in the travel and tourism sector was only worsening."I would rather go down fighting and speaking up than see my business, in which I've invested my family's life savings, die slowly and silently on its knees," Ms Goldie said.
