A survey of a thousand GPs and practices shows that nearly half aren't sure whether they will still be operating in six months' time, with patient numbers plummeting amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Dr Maria Boulton says a low Medicare rebate has added to the problems facing medical practices.Like Dr Shui, her practice's revenue has tumbled by a third since the COVID-19 pandemic began."I've been a GP for 16 years. I have been employed as a contractor and as an owner, and COVID has certainly put a lot of businesses in the financial stress zone."But there were already problems before the pandemic hit.

At the same time, GPs say the introduction of compulsory bulk billing for some telehealth consultations means doctors are receiving less money for each patient.

The impact of covid19 has hit every industry

Blame the Chief Medical Officer and other 'experts' who condoned the disgraceful 'plandemic scare scam' lies instead of advocating scientific truth and true medicine.

Amazing people must have been 'cured' by NOT going to the doctors! Unemployed doctors could be paid a 'living wage' to go & work in third world countries, where they are desperately needed.

It makes sense, thousands of people have lost their jobs thus there is reduced need for them to obtain a compulsory medical certificate to justify a day/s off by visiting a medical centre and registering their Medicare details.

Absolutely no sympathy from me. Hundreds of thousands have lost their jobs, money, families, or even lives from the scaremongering you've instigated and yet you still complain because you can't afford 2 porches instead of 4. You guys ran the scare campaign - REAP IT.

Poor Doctors... Will they have to sell their holiday homes?

Just checking.. is this based on the current covid 19 cases in hospital?
