Washington D.C. bracing for siege to ‘reinstate’ Trump

US Capitol Police are gearing up for the planned attack after officers received an intelligence bulletin overnight that states the members of the far-right “Three Percenters” militia group were mobilising.

The threat comes nearly two months after Trump supporters, including QAnon followers, stormed the Capitol building and laid siege to Congress, in an attack that left five people dead and shook the centre of American democracy.Police said they have bolstered security in Washington D.C. after intelligence uncovered a ‘possible plot to breach the Capitol’.

Three Percenters belong to a militia movement that believe a small number of dedicated “patriots” are protecting Americans from government tyranny. “We have obtained intelligence that shows a possible plot to breach the Capitol by an identified militia group on Thursday, March 4,” the US Capitol Police said in a statement.QAnon fans predict the assault will result in Mr Trump being reinstated as president.
