Australia’s most decorated war hero Ben Roberts-Smith expressed doubt about whether it is a “good option” for people to join the Defence Force given the current state of its leadership.

"Defence doesn’t look at veterans as part of their own anymore," he said.

Mr Roberts-Smith described support services for veterans as lacking, saying “at any point you could be injured, leave and not be supported in a way that is expected and that you should be supported because you have chosen to serve". He added access to support is imperative as every veteran is affected by their service in some way. “No one leaves the Defence Force without being affected in some regard,” he said.

SharriMarkson My husband served 42 yrs, mostly in SASR. His unacceptable behaviour complaint resulted in an Inquiry that allowed lies from officers as evidence. They said he took $10million from SASR Trust! IGADF inquiries are CORRUPTED. BRS will be lucky if his reputation remains in tact.

I agree. I wouldn’t join now. When I was in it was total support and trust. It was a family. The selfish PC forces have taken over

Meanwhile the PC driven bureaucracy now sees DVA call their ESO Christmas Party: ‘End Of Year Function’. The word ‘Christmas’ is apparently just too offensive! That will save a lot of distress for our suffering vets!

So true

Who were the top brass at the time? Who got career moves? Hurley became Governor of NSW then Governor General. Is that a career move? He was Chief of Defence. Is that Top Brass? warcrimesmatter

He is under investigation by ADF and here's the suspect, aided by an uncritical Murdoch press, attacking the lawful investigators. This is the New trump era.

Why didn't you ask about punching a lover in the face?

Why didn't you ask him about war crimes? They're not allegations by nine, they're complaints made by SAS brothers-in-arms and under investigation by adf and afp.

Yes agree Ben now lipstick and handbags are a must to have on before going to battle , seriously. Our enemies will die of laughter.

SharriMarkson What happened to those allegations that he kicked an Afghan detainee, by the name of Ali jan, of a cliff in 2012 in Afghanistan?

If we go to war then all called up must die. We can't afford for them to come home. Answer maybe to stay in our own backyard and load up with rockets for danger that gets too close.

This is a real tragedy. The respect for the armed services has been dragged through the mud of 'woke' ideology and the witch hunting of patriots. Be very careful Australia. The barbarians are at the gates.

Activists are out to condemn war & target individuals...without the acknowledgement that in another country under a different regime their slack ar$e protesting, travelling around, enjoying freedom & Lifestyle wouldn’t exist.

i dont think the defence dept look after there personell half as much as they should

I've never served but I find that an odd thing for him say. You serve your country not the leadership.

He’s right, given the feedback I’ve had from close friends 16 years in service.

It’s never a good idea in the first place.
