Police investigating the disappearance of Cleo Smith have made one major promise as the desperate search enters a sixth day.

Cleo was staying in a tent with her family at the coastal Blowholes Campground in Macleod, near Carnarvon in Western Australia’s north, when she was reported missing about 6am on Saturday.

“I’ve been advised every available police resource is being directed into this investigation and I’ve reassured the Acting Commissioner the government will support police with any request they make to help solve this crime,” he said. “Her disappearance strikes at the heart of West Australians, and I’m here today to provide assurance to the community that everything that can be done is being done,” he told reporters.

“Given the information now that we’ve gleaned from the scene, the fact that search has gone on for this period of time, when we haven’t been able to locate her ... that leads us to believe that she was taken from the tent,” he said. “My heart breaks for you and your family. I’m sending all my love and all the positivity I can muster your way.”

How WA police are scouring the land for clues about Cleo Smith's disappearancePolice say they are not treating the disappearance of WA girl Cleo Smith as an abduction, describing efforts to scour every inch of the land around the Blowholes campsite as a 'search and rescue mission'. So please, where are the trained sniffer dogs, Either K9 or ADF team? So its not an abduction but she took her sleeping bag? That's a picture of a cop sitting on his arse. Hardly 'scouring' the area.
