Pearson condemns ‘squalid little’ Nationals for Voice rejection | LisaVisentin

Indigenous Australians Minister Linda Burney says a Voice to parliament is the country’s best chance to improve the lives of First Nations people after decades of failed policies, rejecting the Nationals’ claim it will do nothing to close the gap.

Pearson, a longtime champion of constitutional recognition of First Nations people, said he was “very surprised” Pearson was equally scathing of Price, a Warlpiri-Celtic woman from Alice Springs, who he said was a “very compelling woman” who had been caught up in a “tragic redneck celebrity vortex” fuelled by right-wing think tanks.

“We’ve got a right to make a determination about the people we represent. No one should be shamed into any decision on this,” Littleproud said. “Right now, the pressure needs to be on the prime minister to answer the most basic questions about the Indigenous Voice to parliament. Because when he is asked questions, he either doesn’t know the answers. Or, for the ones he does know, they simply give rise to more questions.

LisaVisentin I agree with Noel Pearson and I support The Voice. The rest of you can get stuffed.

LisaVisentin Took how long to divide the aboriginal stakeholders? auspol voice

LisaVisentin See the vitriol that occurs if you dare to stray from the woke agenda!

LisaVisentin Nicely put

LisaVisentin Lidia Thorpe is enough of a voice to encourage me to vote no

LisaVisentin Burney asserts that this proposal will close the gap but does not explain how. We’ve already tried ATSIC and that didn’t work. We can try again but we don’t need to change the Constitution to do that.

LisaVisentin I'm sure Pearson's name-calling will heal wounds - not! why does the left always resort to abuse when someone doesn't agree with their ideas?

LisaVisentin So Pearson rejects Price’s voice as being caught up in a “tragic redneck celebrity vortex” fuelled by right-wing think tanks.

LisaVisentin Man he was so on point here. And “tragic redneck celebrity vortex” is quote of the year

LisaVisentin Why isn't this man in gaol. Over the past 15 years he's extracted $250m in taxpayer funds committed to a Voice based on consent from signatures to a blank sheet. Prior to that a small fortune from a whiz bang education scheme that achieved next to nothing. Crime shouldn't pay.

LisaVisentin Hi Linda. It won’t get up. Not enough people know enough about it… yet. Needs more time and planning. All that’s happening is, you are making people cranky banging on about it. Why do you reckon Malcom didn’t take it forward? Because research said a referendum would fail.

LisaVisentin Not a good advertisement for the voice.

LisaVisentin People like these are the problem. Part of the burgeoning aboriginal industry which has been a bottomless pit for fifty years. Until they all acknowledge the issues we’ll continue to throw money into the abyss for years to come, especially under Labor Govts

LisaVisentin So its comes to this name calling & bullying because of an opposing opinion. So much for our democracy that apparently is not shared nor respected by some. The secrecy of what a voice to parliament will be and do will see it fail & politicians will only have themselves to blame.

Nationals to oppose Indigenous Voice to ParliamentThe National party says it will campaign against a Voice to Parliament, which would enshrine an Indigenous-elected representative body into the constitution. Littleproud should close the gap of his fuckin mouth Good Job. Everyone should oppose Racist Laws We expected nothing less from the Nationals.. Low values and little to contribute to the country, that is the Nationals these days... Which makes sense that they work with the Liberal Party, neither care for the country or it's people.

Nationals to oppose ‘racist’ Indigenous VoiceA referendum on Indigenous recognition will not have bipartisan support after the junior Coalition partner said the plan was misguided. Can someone tell Australians what a voice to parliament will achieve?. Will it guarantee indigenous communities better health, education, schools, jobs, housing and safety for the vulnerable & report to parliament on outcomes. Or will it be a gravy train for the few. Smart move. And great timing. Good.
