Australians could wait for two and a half years for a widespread vaccine to counter the coronavirus, former New Zealand prime minister Helen Clark has warned after being named to lead a global inquiry into the health crisis

.

While the inquiry could take more than a year, Ms Clark said its findings would not only help counter the next coronavirus but also deal with COVID-19 because the current pandemic could last for years."I'm told from Geneva that the most optimistic scenario for a widely available vaccine would be at least two and a half years," she said in an interview on Friday.

The warning counters some of the optimistic claims for the development of the first vaccines to counter COVID-19, as analysts at the Milken Institute track 180 vaccine projects around the world.

Our economy won’t last 6 months

Even we have a vaccine, the antibody only works in our body for 2-3 months according to the paper.

Does that mean that New Zealanders could wait for a much shorter time for a vaccine?

We have the entire globe to choose from and we get this.

PetraAu don’t want the vaccine

Well life is pretty well over then in Australia for anyone in a vulnerable category. Great.

That’s a cheery thought

Which is why lockdowns are pointless. Protect the vulnerable and get the show back on the road.

PetraAu This is not correct. It is an enquiry into the response of WHO to the pandemic not the pandemic.

As if she has any scientific knowledge. She will just pander to China . Another China apologist . China has killed the relevant scientists . I wander if she will investigate that reality ?

still waiting for cold virus vaccine . . . cure for cancer . . . hover boards . . . end of snow . . . and other crazy predictions

So why the hell do we let this virus destroy out lives . We know who the vulnerable are .We just have to accept the risks .

CaraMia200 2 options Suppression - 2 to 5 years perpetual cyclic lock down, open up, lock down, open up. Long term health & economic damage immense Eradication - 3 to 4 months disciplined lock down. Finished, control hard at international borders & reap the social & economic benefits

CaraMia200 The WORLD could wait two and a half years.... 🙄🙄🙄🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

2 and a half years and how many days? The real answer is a few months to many many years. Pretending to be more precise than you can be.

So we gonna keep this shutdowns on and off for two years or will we arrive at the logical conclusion that we have to live with it

Lets hope there are plans on the table for how the vaccine (if it turns up) will be distributed. Priority categories and projected numbers need to be down on paper. Then who will administer the vaccine and how/when, to make the process expedient. Where are we getting the doses?

Finally some honesty

I couldn't give a fuck if was 25 years away, I'm never going to take it, if a vaccine cures corona, why don't they have one for the common cold? and nothing from Bill Gates or the WHO is going anywhere near me

The world could never get a vaccine to CV19. We have tried for 40 years to get one for HIV. Politicians need to stop talking like a vaccine will be along any minute. We need to live with this virus.

I don't think one is coming in any of our lifetimes, sadly.

Helen protect your Maori people. They are like indigenous Aborigines in Australia and have lower life expectancy. Thanks for your support.

If Dan Andrews keeps us restricted that long, their won’t be a society to save.

BevanShields China is the common enemy! BevanShields WHO has zero credibility that’s why. BevanShields It needs to be driven from the top, unfortunately, some powerful leaders ( I use that term loosely ) only care about reelection, no care for the proletariat.
