Victorian Federal politicians are being warned they will have to quarantine for two weeks if they travel to Canberra ahead of the next round of parliamentary sittings.cancelled due to a surge in COVID-19 infections in VictoriaThe Acting Chief Medical Officer has issued advice to the Prime Minister, saying Victorian members and senators travelling to the ACT poses a "significant risk" to the Canberra community.

He said his preference was for politicians to complete the quarantine in the ACT. If they do it at home, all members of their household will be prevented from leaving for the fortnight. Sources have told the ABC that non-Victorian politicians and their staff will be encouraged to avoid public settings while in Canberra for Parliament.

Politicians in quarantine will undergo COVID-19 testing on day 12 and need to receive a negative result before they can leave.

I agree Victorian politician are a risk north Q'land pollys are another type of RISK Voter's need to see the character or lack thereof in the attendance records Dan has locked down given most excuse from today MOST states now see the DANGER's after opening those gates early

Let’s put Technology to task and create a virtual parliament, and senate.

Who doesn't Scotty want there, could it be Bill Shorten ?

Have they not heard of Zoom?

as the elected members surely it won't be too much to ask them to self funded two weeks isolation. don't see what's the problem here 🤔

Gee, if that's what you gotta do. Maybe ... set an example!!

Marvellous!

This is probably a good thing, as it would seem that stupidity has coupled with Covid in Victoria. It’s kinda turning into Wuhan down there. The only difference is that the Dandrews government has had 6 months to prepare. They’ve squandered their lead and opened the door 2 Covid

And they’re lucky to have the option. Repatriating Australians who live in Victoria would be grateful for that. IStillCallAustraliaHome but it does feel like plan A is panic and learn all lessons the hard way.

Personally I believe all federal politicians should spend the next 6 months in quarantine on manus island. Then we might get some real action and genuine political decisions made for Australians and not just their mates.

At the public purses expense.... you left out...

They better get on a flight then to get there for 24 August sitting or is that 24 August 2021!!

Right to make them quarantine. Why would politicians be any different to others? It's their job to meet people, and if they've been meeting people, they're a risk. Doing business has costs associated with it, 2 weeks iso is a cost of them doing business, get over it.

How embarrassing. Zoom, google meet, Microsoft team, to name a few. Its not hard, my 8 year old and my 3 year old are doing it

Surely there’s an app for that

If only there was some kind of technology available where people could meet while being in another physical location. If only...

Andrews govt believe Victorians are 'stupid' and will forget the quarantine scandal | Sky News AustraliaThe Parliament of Victoria was forced to endure 20 minutes of “obfuscating, filibustering, .... and blathering” by the state’s Health Minister who refused to accept responsibility for the COVID-19 outbreak says Sky News host Paul Murray.\n\n“There are multiple failures that stack up to the roof”.\n\nTen thousand people were able to hide behind the Victorian human rights bill amid the second wave of the virus, as privacy laws impeded upon tracking and tracing processes, allowing many potential positive cases to avoid taking a coronavirus test, Mr Murray said.\n\n“We learnt today that apparently there was a thing called the crazy floor in one of these hotels where essentially people were denied the ability to smoke and that meant they were forced into cold turkey so they were going crazy”.\n\n“They were able to overpower guards they were able to bribe guards”. \n\nMr Murray said the Andrews government simply believes the general public are “stupid and will forget” the many scandals which have marred its political career over the past few years.\n\nImage: Getty Sack her for goodness sake!!
