After two failed attempts to leave Victoria during a week of border closures, players and staff from Melbourne Victoty, Melbourne City and Western United finally arrive in Sydney.

The all-clear to fly out on Saturday was given after Western United's most recent COVID-19 swabs were cleared on Friday, ensuring all those travelling had met the health protocols to head to NSW.

Players and staff from all three teams had to return negative COVID-19 swabs before flying out of Melbourne. "I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our players, coaches, staff and all their families for the exceptional way in which they've handled the challenges and unknowns of this extremely stressful week.

That will mean Friday's match between leaders Sydney FC and Wellington Phoenix at Jubilee Stadium will be the first fixture played since the league was suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Why do we need these people in NSW?

This is a national disgrace. These guys just play games for a living. They play catch & kick a ball. How & why do they get to put peoples lives including medical staff at risk for their silly games, & which they’re already ridiculously overpaid for!

PMs wife goes out to visit a person in the community in a caring role.

My understanding re PMs advice about social distancing is that if you are in a home based family group you don’t need to social distance from each other inside or outside only from the community at large. Any comments please.

They seem to be able to wave the Law whenever they need to

they need to pay for quarantine

Since when are they considered an 'Essential Service' or whatever. 😡😡😡😡

David Squires still said it best:

Spreading the coronavirus love around...

This is inequality !

The elite are allowed to travel. Us plebs have to stay in the naughty corner.

Ugh 🙄

Their model is working (ICU wards are emptying despite limited to no restrictions). We MUST get out of the lockdown mindset. It is the wrong approach and the collateral damage is just immense.
