The Andrews Government’s decision to go “behind the Commonwealth’s back” and sign an infrastructure deal with China will be viewed “dimly” by the public, Liberal backbencher Tim Wilson says.

Victoria has gone it alone on signing up for China’s trillion-dollar Belt and Road infrastructure scheme, a decision which has been panned by the federal Coalition. Premier Daniel Andrews said the memorandum of understanding, signed in 2018, was about promoting job growth in the state. But Liberal MP Tim Wilson told Sky News “if this was about jobs … the deal should have gone through the proper process with the Commonwealth”.

“Well if it was all about jobs then he would have had no problem going through each step with the Commonwealth government,” he said. “The Commonwealth has responsibility for relationships with other countries and when you come to a state government going behind effectively the Commonwealth’s back to go and do deals with … the Chinese communist party, the public takes a pretty dim view.

This is not on I don't like this one bit , we are one country after all , bloody communist labor are playing with fire and we will end up paying for it

Thing worst than China attacking Australia; it is having renegades within Australia🤪Must be most dumbest/criminal shameful Treasurer ever🤪Racketeering is China’s extortion game🤪Once caught forever caught🤪Does Victoria understand what it means “to sell your soul to the Devil”?

The Federal Government should step in and stop Andrew’s from going ahead with the China roads deal because of security.

TimWilsonMP What would Tim know... only ever a back bencher, never to get a go at the front... Tim doesnt realise but he is the first looser.

Commies are commies. They don’t care a hoot about their country or the public. It is their pockets that matter. Victoria you are doomed. When will you people ever learn.

Tim we can only hope the voters get rid of you next election .This deal was signed at last Victorian state election .Dan Andrews won by a country mile .The LP got an absolute flogging from the voters . Dan Andrews will never ,sell public assets like the previous LP premiers

Piss him off that rat

Viewed dimly? Probe him to check if he has been bribed by China. Any politician taking China’s side is BRIBED

Scum

TimWilsonMP Like this?

As a nation, we do not sign up this CCP funded Belt and Road program. What on earth Andrews government to join it for? Is Victoria not a part of Australia? Please stop it. Please sign and share the Petition:

Where is Anthony Albanese? What is he doing about this, if anything at all? If this goes through Labor is unlikely to return in power either in federal or states in several decades.

We need to bring Jail terms for politicians. Daniel Andrews need to be tired & Jailed for selling our country. Victorian wake up !! skynewsaustdanielandrewsmp

How's that behind the commonwealth's back ?

Not in Victoria it won't.

Oh, oh, Tim. Watch out, you'll soon might have to replace your little IPA book with a little Red book.

Skynews has had a hard-on for Dan Andrews since his approval rating was so high. I've honestly never seen him in the news so much. The next Vic election must be up soon

Yes we view it very dimply 👍😎

Stone him

Victoria should loose its cut of the G.S.T in order to help fund the expansion of our Navy we need a Aircraft carrier or two to take on China.

Opportunistic-hypocrite Australia. They simply dont want to admit, though the rest of the world is witnessing otherwise. So better to start learning to bow since now, a very deep bow. IndonesiaAust

The ALP Andrews government have no regard for the security and long term future of Australia. They are enemies within and the Morrison government need to install urgent ledgislation to protect our kids future.

Daniel Andrews is a CCP bootlicker

AStrongerOZ Federal government under Morrison have done a similar deal in secret.

Again this comes down to a federal stuff up. Any thing that is a concern to the country by a rogue state premier should be pulled up and laws put into the constitution to stop this from happening

Not good enough! Should be stopped by the PM

SKY NEWS NEVER TALK ABOUT WHAT LIBERAL GLADYS DID IN NSW. SOLD OF ELECTRICITY GRID AT FRACTION OF ITS MARKET PROCE

THIS DEAL HAS BEEN PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE FOR YEARS. HOW CAN IT BE GOING BEHID COMMONWEALTH BACK?

Then cut Victoria's federal funding

Chinese corona panic... ccp

Like treason, or maybe actual treason !

So what happens when Dan the Inhu Man gets the arse?

It could just be the way the photo is taken but is the Chinese flag flying higher than the National Flag? Not allowed to do that.

TimWilsonMP The Liberals are the dim ones Hopeless in every way, and totally corrupt.

It’s too fkn late then

Protesting against govt has no successful outcome in either communism or our democracy. It's just you are allowed to do it in a democracy. Without any success, what's the point? May as well be under communism & shut your mouth. About 50% don't want the elected govt!

Can you reference your reporting on this subject? Or is it selective outrage ?

TimWilsonMP Watch Tim Fatarse Wilson capitulate to SCUNO,s demands when the Chinese stop importing Aussie Wheat,Coal,Ironore and Beef. Watch the Liarberals squirm as pressure is mounted by the IPA, Murdoch, Gina and Twiggy when the Chinese wipe their hands of Aussie imports. The Hypocrites

The federal government's decision to gift Foxtel $30M without justification was viewed dimly by the public.

TimWilsonMP Backbencher. Guess he's glad you're pumping up his tyres.

LNP in Victoria are completely out of touch with majority of Victorian voters 🤭

TimWilsonMP We are a joke internationally. We trashed major export industries for the sake of some racist Trumpian bluster.. Even more amusing, is that the Sinophobic push came from far-right extremists like Christiansen on ‘one of his rare visits to Australia’ & Little Timmy Twat.

TimWilsonMP Yikes. Must be too wet to play in the sandpit today, Tim?

SACK THE ANDREWS GOVERNMENT

This thread is riddled with fake accounts. Clearly there's a Liberal backroom at work trying to astroturf this garbage.

TimWilsonMP It’s imperative both the federal government and state government work together in the national interest on managing the CCP. We all understand the $$ at stake. This could be a huge turning point in Australia’s manufacturing investment if managed correctly.

TimWilsonMP Tim has a lot of experience when it comes to being viewed dimly by the public.

Not happy with DanielAndrewsMP

We are also still waiting for answers as to why DanielAndrewsMP took over 4 weeks to let the Victorian public know about the Cedar meat works covid threat. It’s not the crime it’s the coverup meatgate wackyhealthminister

A worse decision than the Khemlani loans affair of the 70's that sank Whitlam. This traitor should be charged with treason !

DictatorDan CedarAndrews

Both Andrews and China are dishonest and can't be trusted. So that two criminals engage in secret activities behind the scenes should not surprise us; instead Australians should be looking at what they can do to expose and prevent this from taking place.

What Country do you think this is?

AusAntiLeft It’s shameful and highly dangerous that the Australian Law-enforcement Authorities & the Federal Government have been so indifferent in this vital issue for the Freedom & Democracy. ScottMorrisonMP SocialismKills MakeOZgreatAgain WWG1WGA_WORLDWIDE

swannnyco

Yeah TIM M AH whatever you say Mr0Credibility

Victoria put Australia in risks. Public denies it certainly.

It’s amazing watching various political pundits using this to score points. Sorry but idgaf about any political party but I do care about my state been sold to a tyrannical regime. If the federation can’t stop this, what purpose do they serve ?

freedom_HKong Remember greed is insatiable but it kills.

Victoria's children's children's will pay for this or even longer. Living in Victoria will be more expensive

Ha ha ha ha ha ha Tim Wilson ha ha ha ha.

Nice try at deflection from Murdoch but no one is buying it bar fools. auspol

Will be? ... it has been since it was done. Victoria has been behaving like a CCP -aligned entity under DictatorDan for quite some time.

Time Wilson is a flog, not even a pimple on the arse of Andrews. LNPtrash

If the US does decide to disconnect Australia from the US, let's hope it ONLY applies to Victoria then!. What a mess our world is becoming!. The people in power are loosing control by the hour!. Covid-19 only highlights it's issues.

Absolutely!

It has never been so evident that the world can’t trust a genocidal regime that lies, steals, Threatens, coerces, bullies, infiltrates,… and yet you continue to kowtow to them. Guess you really will sell your sovereignty and security for $$$ DanielAndrewsMP ! ScottMorrisonMP

Tim Wilson has obviously overlooked that the LNP leased Darwin Port to the CCP or doesn't it count?

LiberalAus sells seat in Australian parliament to Chinese communist party member Gladys lu TimWilsonMP is full of shit .......Murdoch was married to a Chinese spy remember Wendy used to play hide the sausage with tony from Uk

Ohh FFS, only backstabbers here are Tim Wilson and those in the LNP Government. WhereIsTheBushfireReliefFunds

National security must usurp the desperation and egos of the states Premiers to get involved in foreign policy issues and enter these arrangements with countries like China

why has this MOU been kept secret?

'Viewed dimly' is a polite way to put it. 'The public' would also like to know how a State is entering an agreement with a foreign power. Sect 51 of the Constitution assigns foreign affairs to the Commonwealth. MarisePayne ScottMorrisonMP Morrison DanielAndrewsMP TimWilsonMP

Any deal that creates jobs and boost fast track development will be viewed brightly by the public. Only politicians who got their seats by selling hatred view those deals dimly. LoL

Let's disengage from China ... slowly and carefullyThe debate over how we engage with China is one we must have, but it can easily be derailed if our leaders speak and act impetuously. The sooner the better China is becoming a problem on planet Earth. The CCP can never be trusted.

Australia, UK, Canada rebuke China over Hong Kong interventionThe three countries warned China's planned laws forbidding treason, secession, sedition, and subversion against the Central People's Government in Beijing would 'clearly undermine' Hong Kong's autonomy and its citizens' civil liberties. Do you understand now to whom ComradeDan is selling Victoria? I'm pretty sure we have laws forbidding treason, secession, sedition, and subversion... Its hard for some to accept, but HK is part of China. Rioting and vandalism in the name of 'democracy' (which was non existant under British colonial rule) is no longer allowed. Fair enough Thank you Australia.
