A reserve workforce of hundreds of contact tracers armed with local knowledge will be on standby to battle coronavirus outbreaks, as a key part of Victoria’s overhauled contact tracing strategy. covid19 coronavirus lockdown springst

This reserve workforce could include social workers, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

“Once your interview is in there and you've given information about the people you've been in close contact with and their details, that automatically triggers messages to them to tell them what to do.” Melbourne GP Dr Catherine Orr has treated about 100 patients who have tested positive for coronavirus.“A lot of the time we are told [changes] will happen, and three months down the track it doesn’t happen,” she said.

In August the health department said it had “well over 2000 people” undertaking contact tracing, and Professor Wallace confirmed that the workforce wouldn't grow enormously.

Pls just stop w/ the war language. Its a virus w/ a minimal impact on longevity, much lower IFR than flu for non elderly, & this whole response that destroyed basic rights & humanity was based on wildly incorrect data, assisted by doomsday anecdotes invented by compliant media

Sounds like a plan.

About time!

Why don’t you just use tech/ electronic wrist bands?

A little late now for the 817 deceased Victorians, due to the Andrews Gov. bungled hotel quarantine program and then the ensuing inadequate tracing program to date.

Never forget! Dan Andrews and his ‘I don’t know’ CHO Sutton like to make comparisons with the USA, Europe, France etc, but are strangely quiet on much more like comparisons with the rest of Australia!

I wouldn’t trust anything the Victorian government does!

Assuming this is accurate, why now? Why not months ago and then this workforce might have been useful and got us out of lockdown sooner.

Frydenberg outrage against Victorian’s in parliament was disgraceful and should be on the front page of all Victorian newspapers
