A woman in her 70s has died in Victoria from COVID-19, bringing the national death toll to 22.Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said a woman aged in her 70s had died from COVID-19.Health Minister Jenny Mikakos said the woman was in a Victorian hospital for a number of days, but said she had no further details. The latest figures show Victorian cases have now hit 1036, with 68 new cases confirmed overnight.

There were also 57 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Victoria that may have been acquired through community transmission. It's the state's largest single-day increase of cases that did not originate from overseas travellers, and indicates a localised spread of the virus. Thirty-six people are in hospital, including six patients in intensive care, and 422 people have recovered. More than 49,000 tests have been conducted to date.

Ms Mikakos also pleaded with Victorians to get a flu jab, and for workplaces to continue to provide jabs for employees despite many of them working off-site. Pharmacists can now give the jab to children aged 10 and over, bringing the age down from 16, she said.

Take a drive around Stonnington and you’ll understand why it’s spreading 😡😡😡😡

Confused. how does The Age, or anyone else, know that this woman died FROM C19, not just WITH it? What comorbidities , if any , did she have? What else did they test for?

We all have China to thank for this deadly virus. China lied and people are dying now. So sad!

None available to get in Narromine. Not expected until end of April
