Vegemite to be sold to Indian customers through new Amazon Australia store | JennieDuke

Vegemite will make its way into Indian shoppers' online baskets after the launch of an Amazon Australia store in the country, as the federal government jostles to grow Australian business activity in the region.

India is Australia's fifth-largest export market and is tipped to be the third biggest economy in the world by 2035, behind China and the US. Opportunities to boost Australia's business presence in the region has become a focus for the Australian government and Trade Minister Simon Birmingham, who is launching the store in Mumbai.

The new way for Australian businesses to sell directly into India comes after economists have urged the government to take steps to diversify its exports into other countries. China is currently Australia's biggest trading partner and while the impact of the outbreak of the coronavirus on the local economy is yet to be determined, it is expected to be significant.

JennieDuke and yet here in Australia we're unable to get a 4k firestick or indeed most of the Amazon range of tablets, firecube, Amazon auto etc. But we'll sell vegemite to India and don't forget we're still unable to buy pretty much anything from the o/s Amazon stores, thanks to Gerry H

JennieDuke Great! Let's continue to foster India and loosen the hold China seems to have on us.
