: Women’s reproductive rights will be severely curtailed in the US after the Supreme Court repealed a landmark law giving women the constitutional right to an abortion., to overturn Roe v Wade - the 1973 ruling that for the past 50 years has ensured a federal right to abortion access.
While pro-life activists were thrilled by the decision - many screaming with joy outside the Supreme Court as the decision was handed down today - critics say the ruling represents the most damaging setback to the rights of women in the history of the country.Pro-choice groups fear curtailing abortion access could lead to more unsafe procedures, result in unwanted pregnancies, or place pressure on the states that continue offer services as more people turn to them for treatment.
Among the most restrictive states is Oklahoma, where the Republican government recently introduced new laws prohibiting nearly all abortions starting at fertilisation, accompanied by a bounty-hunting scheme encouraging members of the public to sue those involved in abortions and rewarding them with at least $US10,000 if their lawsuit is successful.
A crowd gathers outside the Supreme Court in Washington after the draft decision was published in May.Tensions were already high in the lead up to the ruling, with steel fencing installed around the Supreme Court last month in anticipation of potential unrest and security beefed up to protect the nine justices of the court.
About time!
It goes back to the states to decide like Australia.
Elections in the USA have consequences. Many people warned this would happen during the 2016 election campaign but too many couldn’t get past their dislike of Hilary. The Dems have no one to blame but themselves.
Regardless, Roe v Wade, either its introduction or the repeal of the precedent, it is a symptom of a country that cannot have referendums or enact meaningful federal laws. They can neither ban abortion nationally and they cannot legalize it either. A truly terrible democracy.
A terrible decision and a symptom of a country spiralling in the decline of misdirected moralism and the fanatical few.
What a sick country; doesn’t protect the lives of living children- the right to shoot them in their classrooms is bigger than the right to life then- but forces people to go through with unwanted pregnancies.
The patriarchal designed matrix that we have been trapped in since Adam was a boy, is attempting with all its might to claw back the ancient mindset of domination, moral authority and control, including religion.

It goes back to the states to the determine
GOP tactic to distabilise the govt and divert attention from the jan 6 inquiry. TrumpCoupAttempt
