Tasmania's only public tourism and hospitality training school may be unable to keep pace with the booming industry, according to a report commissioned by the Tasmanian Government.According to the report, it would take less time to build a new hotel than for Drysdale to purchase new software under the existing model because of departmental red tape

Tourism and hospitality bodies are demanding Drysdale have its independence returned in the face of declining enrolments and industry-wide shortages Tourism and hospitality bodies have been pushing for Drysdale to be cleaved from TasTAFE and run by an independent, industry-led board for several years.

The KPMG report suggested TasTAFE red tape was hindering Drysdale's ability to respond to the fast-changing industry.
