If you needed any evidence we are living in extraordinary times, look no further than Australia's major airports who are offering free parking in their previously lucrative car parks.

"If you are required to travel for an essential trip prior to 30 June, we would like to assist by inviting you to leave your car with us as a guest of Melbourne Airport Parking, at zero cost." On Friday, Melbourne Airport's flight board showed just one scheduled international arrival: Qatar Airways flight QR904 from Doha. Sydney Airport had two international arrivals scheduled, Air New Zealand's NZ103 from Auckland and Qatar Airways QR988 from Doha.

Visitors to Sydney Airport will be able to use the car parks at the domestic terminal, as well as the P7 and Express Parking facilities at the international terminal.

Surely not? Brisbane? Never!

You’re kidding , is that even in Sydney?

How useful is this, really?

With what they make per hour they could've retired after a day of operating.

Airports main source of income has always been parking,Landing planes is secondary

You nailed it . Lets hope when this is over aiport and hospital parking will be reviewed as we have new goal posts.

my my my, how the turns have tabled...

Well they would NO FLIGHTS NO PARKING HA HA.

Wow we are really in bad times

The biggest rort in Australia bites the dust. Ned Kelly and Darcy Dugan had nothing on Sydney Airport. Highway robbery on steroids.

Are they still charging for trolleys?

p_hannam Airports are essentially a federal govt licence to set up little principalities of greed cloaked by an operation that facilitates a planet-destroying luxury for a wealthy minority

Who is still travelling?

KateDennehy2 Who is still flying in these unprecedented times?

somuchbullsh Now that no one is flying.

p_hannam It's always bad to see Macquarie Group losing money ....

As is Westfield....

As foretold in Revelations

He has taken on what the Unions said to do so it is a plus for him We learned enough during the bushfire crisis about him. Once an Engadine, always an Engadine. Australia should 'take an equity stake' in foreign owned airline | Sky News AustraliaGiven Virgin Australia is '90 per cent China owned' and 'paid no tax' on $23.4 billion revenue for five years, the Australian government need to 'take a share in the company' rather than giving it a bailout says Centre Alliance Senator Rex Patrick.\n\nThe airline, which recently stood down 8,000 employees, has lobbied the government for a $1.4 billion rescue package.\n\nSenator Patrick said Australia does need to 'protect our aviation industry' and ensure there are 'two players in the market,' but the answer is not a federal loan, rather the government needs to 'take an equity stake' in the airline.\n\nHe told Sky News host Peta Credlin given Virgin 'has paid no tax over the five years [between 2013\u002F14 and 2017\u002F18] on $23.4 billion worth of revenue' if the government did 'hand that company money … most taxpayers would find that offensive'.\n\nHis idea would see a situation where 'we help the company out after the coronavirus,' end up with the aviation sector returning to normal, and 'the taxpayer could actually make a profit'.\n\nImage: AP Senator_Patrick Why bail out on overseas owned company ... how unaustrailian is that !!!! Senator_Patrick Senator_Patrick I pay taxes and don’t have a plane. They don’t pay taxes so why should they have a plane
