The jobless rate has taken another step further away from full employment and, with forward indicators continuing to weaken, it is putting more pressure on the RBA to cut interest rates again.

Unemployment has risen steadily since its decade long low of 4.9pc in FebruarySouth Australia's has the highest unemployment rate at 7.3pc, while NSW has the lowest at 4.3pc

Jobs are about the only thing keeping recession at bay, but with unemployment rising, so are the risks. "In recent months employment growth has been driven more by part-time roles," Indeed economist Callam Pickering said. Why is Australia experiencing its slowest wages growth since World War Two? There are countless theories, but many come back to a shift in power between workers and employers.

"While employment growth has been reasonably healthy over the past year, the demand for labour is being met with increased supply. This is working to keep a lid on wages growth," Mr Langcake said. The figures also point to the gap in Australia's two-tiered jobs market widening. "There is a real concern that if conditions deteriorate in Sydney and Melbourne, even by a bit, then the entire labour market would deteriorate rapidly," Mr Pickering said.

But hey we have a “surplus”!

The abc is a bunch of biased labor fanatics. SICK.

trickledowneconomics at work here. This lot do the same shit every time they're in power. When will they learn that if the bottom end of town have a little extra money the top end benefits. auspol

And underemployment would be multiple times higher - considering you are bumped off the statistics if you work the equivalent of ONE day a week.. auspol auspol2019

But the government has just announced a surplus using creation of 100,000 jobs as part of the reason 😬😂

should ask SenatorCash & BOConnorMP why the Federal Government use the misery of unemployment as an economic buffer stock (NAIRU) when it could use the superior buffer stock of full employment (NAIBER) This explains! auspol FinancialReview

I blame the slowdown on all of the climate doom cultists polluting our socioeconomic gestalt with nihilism & anti-business fervour. People spend more & are more productive at work if they are full of hope & ambition, rather than having confected fear & dread inflicted on them. 🦉

But, we're heading for a surplus! How good is that!! auspol economy employment

All that money, saved by not having to provide medical care for the people who are getting disposed of six months early under his new law, is now going into his pockets and those of other MPs who voted for it? Socialists, they're all the same. ChampagneSocialist This is criminal.
