The lack of transparency in how the states use the $1.5 billion in Commonwealth skills funding will be a major focus of the government’s planned overhaul, Skills Minister SenatorCash says.

The lack of transparency in how the states use the $1.5 billion in Commonwealth skills funding will be a major focus of the government’s planned overhaul, Skills Minister Michaelia Cash says. Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Tuesday announced he would look to overhaul the $7.7 billion sector and rewrite deals with the states to unify public subsidies in a hope to boost jobs in the economic recovery from the coronavirus crisis.

“You would be aware the Commonwealth puts $1.5 billion each year into a bucket, we have no transparency, no line of sight, within reason the money is handed over to the states and territories and they can spend it as they wish as long as its on skills,” she said. “That’s really unacceptable.

SenatorCash Are you kidding? The senator wants to talk aboard transparency? Oh, mercy 🤣

SenatorCash perhaps their rorts should be a bigger focus

SenatorCash But apparently no problem with the Community Grants funding or sportsrorts

SenatorCash Just white board it...

SenatorCash But lack of transparency for everything the LNP do is just fine ...

SenatorCash Does anyone take her seriously anymore?

SenatorCash The lack of transparency is because it’s hidden behind a whiteboard!

SenatorCash Senator Whiteboard shouldn't be talking about transparency, in any functioning democracy, she'd be on the dole queue with everyone else. ICACNow

Qld border closures 'more about the state election' and less about state health | Sky News AustraliaIt’s time for Qld Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to “park the politics” and release the “hand break” on state border closures which are reducing productivity at both a state and national level, according to NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance.\n\nThe Queensland government has indicated border closures could extend to as late as September despite Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy insisting there was not medical reason to support such measures. \n\nMr Constance said the premier was making a “fundamental mistake”.\n\nAt a time when politicians should be focusing on bringing “all Australians together,” Annastacia Palaszczuk is making decisions based on the state election later in the year.\n\n“If we are going to get this country going again, and safely, to avoid a second wave of infections, the states have got to work together”. \n\nMr Constance told Sky News host Chris Kenny, the “tourism element” was only part of the problem.\n\nShutting borders “slows down logistics” and “slows down freight” at a time when “we’ve got to speed the economy up”.\n\nImage: News Corp Australia AnnastaciaMP It's spelled 'hand brake' AnnastaciaMP Yet SA , Tas, WA & Vic have closed borders too AnnastaciaMP She has to ruin Queensland just as Andrews had to ruin Victoria so the Tech Oligarch globalists can swarm in and buy up and build their Smart Cities where people can't own property, only they can because they own the whole city.

‘Parochialism pushed’ in media on state border bans | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny says many within the media circles are “buying the provincial arguments” and are “backing the border bans” in stark defiance of the national chief medical officer's consistent advice. \n\nMr Kenny said the idea Australian states could “close off their borders to people from other states has astounded me from the start”. \n\nIt comes as mixed messages have been delivered by state premiers, with some pushing for sooner relaxation of social distancing regulations and borders bans, and others seeking their extension. \n\n“It shows how governments can overreach in a crisis, and the media can all too often get caught up in the moment, bordering on complicity,” Mr Kenny said. \n\n'But my prediction is the media will catch on quickly, as public attitudes change, and they'll be crucial in forcing backdowns'. \n\n\n Each state should be a different country Quarantine is when you restrict the movement of sick ppl. Tyranny is when you restrict the movement of healthy ppl. Why are some Australians acting as if they do not understand the difference? We are only one “She’ll be right mate” away from Losing ALL Our Sovereign Rights😡 How often are the media right these days. They have a poor read on people, every election in the last 3 years shows a disconnect. QLDLabor will suffer a heavy defeat, AnnastaciaMP listens to people in her own circle, thats a leaders biggest mistake thinking they know better.

JobKeeper miscalculation saving taxpayer money is ‘cause for celebration’ | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peta Credlin says the government’s $60 billion JobKeeper blunder highlights the “farce of letting so-called experts run the show” whether it be state health or treasury officials 'who need a lesson in modelling”.\n\nOn Friday a significant reporting error had led Treasury to dramatically revise its projections for the Morrison government's JobKeeper program.\n\nAs a result, Treasury's revised estimate of the cost of the JobKeeper program is now just $70 billion, which is $60 billion less than forecast.\n\nMs Credlin said she definitely doesn’t think treasury is “infallible” given it has form in forecasting blunders, but in any case “why is it somehow Josh Frydenberg’s fault that these boffins made a $60 billion mistake”.\n\nShadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers along with Opposition leader Anthony Albanese have strongly criticised both the prime minister and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg for the error.\n\n“It says everything about Labor, that even today, they're still up in arms, about a government program that now only has to borrow half of what they thought, rather than celebrate the fact, it means the taxpayer is $60 billion dollars better off, plus interest.”\n\nShe said there really is “only one conclusion;” experts aren’t always correct, and “when you don’t have to borrow the money you thought you might have, that’s a saving”.\n\n“And saving taxpayers money is always cause for celebration in my book, and not as Labor suggest, an opportunity to just borrow it anyway and spend up big, whether we need to or not.”\n\nImage: Getty\n So if you don't want to let experts run the show, there's always Peta Credlin. Spend the $60 billion on rebuilding the manufacturing sector. Create jobs and become less dependent imports for essential products like tyres. Invest in projects that will generate a long term Return on Investment. Seems more likely that the govt erred purposefully on the high side, given the ratings agency review of our triple A rating. And the opposition to stupid to pick up the blue.
