Mr Turnbull cited the Paris Agreement on climate change and the advice of the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to warn that anyone who rejected the net-zero target by 2050 was, in effect, supporting an increase in global temperatures of 3 degrees, which would make much of the world "uninhabitable".This challenge is real.

While Mr Turnbull has taken issue with Mr Morrison in the past, the speech represented a significant and forceful attack when the government is fomenting political alarm overMr Turnbull said the facts showed Australia could achieve net zero in a way that lowered energy pricesHe said while the Howard government confronted a cost barrier to reducing emissions when it advocated an emissions trading scheme, the dramatic fall in the cost of renewable energy meant it was now cheaper to reduce...

CroweDM Who the hell cares what this fool says, give it a rest media.

CroweDM TurnbullMalcolm And that catastrophic future will be even worse if Lucy Turnbull from the Greater Sydney Commission is allowed to increase Sydney's population to 8 million by continuing an unsustainable immigration program

CroweDM So I take it Malcolm is the new poster boy for the SMH.

CroweDM Yes catastrophic indeed when his interests in grant funded ‘climate change’ schemes fail as a result of us mot moving to ‘net zero’?

CroweDM gee, if only he'd ever been in a position to do something about it eh

CroweDM Malcolm's rich enough to care about 'net zero'; most of us are thinking about how to pay our exorbitant private rents. It's a luxury to worry about extinction, sitting in your harbourside mansion, mulling it all over over a glass of wine. Oh dear.

CroweDM Beginning to understand why he was rolled as PM. Very smart after the fact - just nutless when it comes to doing anything constructive. Talk is cheap.

CroweDM It would have been catastrophic if he was PM !

CroweDM He totally screwed up the internet for Australia and could do nothing about climate change as PM in govt. Why do we now care what he thinks?

CroweDM Who keeps hiring this loser to say things he didn’t have the spine to say 2 years ago?

CroweDM 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Tell us another one

CroweDM Pity he didn’t have the balls to do something about this when he was PM TurnbullMalcolm

CroweDM At a price, yes we can move to net zero - need nuclear power to achieve. However why would we bother when the world's biggest polluters, including China (30%) US (15%) & emergers like India & Indonesia continue to build coal plants - hundreds every year. Aust. has a total of 24.

Australia must hit net zero by 2050 to meet Paris: scientistsTop scientists say for Australia to honour the Paris Agreement and limit global warming to less than two degrees, the country must reach net zero emissions before 2050 Yes, no doubt the alt right bobbleheads will be on their microphones screaming the house down with, what would the scientists know. Zero by 2050 is not sole test of climate purity - it is one case, others push out to end of century. Given modle uncertainties & other impacts on climate (sun) it shows this is not the one hill to die on with no test of cost/benefit It took less than 10 years to put a man on the Moon why do we even need 30 years to de-carbonise our economy? We've already identified the alternative sources of energy and done mass user testing to see it works.
