Navy ships have dropped key supplies in Tonga, as the Pacific nation recovers from a devastating tsunami caused by an undersea volcano. 9News

Australia's HMAS Adelaide, and the UK's HMS Spey both berthed off the Tongan capital of Nuku'alofa on Wednesday, with New Zealand's Canterbury due on Wednesday.

"So Australia Day, I think it's a great time to reflect on what it means to be Australian and beyond beaches and barbecues," he said. UNICEF said the ash had affected 84 per cent of the population of 85,000 — including 36,500 children — leaving access to clean water the top priority.
