Travellers who have been forced to quarantine in hotels across Sydney for 14 days have complained about deteriorating conditions, as the government moves to tighten hotel budgets.
Coogee resident Steven Christie, 22, who has recently returned from Los Angeles, said guests are now only allocated three small meals a day and are unable to purchase snacks or drinks. Over at the InterContinental, 22-year-old Laura Buttler was allowed a care package after a senior constable noticed how much distress she was in.
Late on Tuesday, Ibis guests were informed they would soon be able to arrange deliveries from Woolworths and Coles. "The lack of communication is horrible, we don't even get a choice here, you get what you are given," Ms Buttler said. "I had previously called downstairs to see if they could heat it [dinner] up a little bit more. And they said, 'Oh, we can't, just eat it' ... I said to them, 'You're going to get more food poisoning cases here rather than COVID-19'.
