Exclusive: Thousands of booster jab appointments unfilled as over 60s make up bulk of admissions | lucy_carroll marywardy

Tens of thousands of booster appointments in NSW have gone unfilled in the past week with new data revealing that people in their 70s were most likely to be hit with severe COVID-19 and admitted to intensive care in the first two weeks of January.

“I really want the community to have a sense of urgency in going and getting boosted,” Dr Chant said. “Having said that, we’re still trying to slow the transmission in the community because we want to give time for people to get those boosters.” “Often over the last two years, we can get focused on reporting the numbers, but we should not forget behind every one of those numbers is a loved one who passed away, or somebody who is in hospital ICU and going through a very difficult time,” he said.

Paediatric infectious diseases specialist Professor Nigel Curtis said for the few children who need admission more were presenting with “croup-like illness” than seen with previous strains. “Young children with mild infection are also admitted for social reasons because their parents have COVID-19 and may not be able to care for them.”

As hospitals deal with record numbers of COVID-19 patients, on Tuesday Victoria announced a “code brown” emergency response, allowing for staff to be recalled from leave. Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt also reactivated a resource-sharing deal with private hospitals first used in March 2020.

lucy_carroll marywardy Don't they know it's MILD 👺

lucy_carroll marywardy Umm, “the bulk” usually means “most”. So the bulk of the admissions are under 70, and just under half of the are under 60. Quite a different story than the headline. The children aren’t “about 7%”they are 7.47%, so more than 7% Stop hiding the realities with semantics

lucy_carroll marywardy No more vaxxing

lucy_carroll marywardy Consequences of perception that vaccine effectiveness was oversold by manufacturers and governments as people genuinely believed two jabs will give them protection and make Covid just a 'flu'. Now with double and triple vaxxed people getting sick trust has been lost.

lucy_carroll marywardy The Morrison Government the most dangerous Government Australia has known LNPfail

lucy_carroll marywardy The only reason why 70% of the 93.5 % of ppl got the vax In the first place is that the govt blackmailed us as we were lockdown now that you can’t use lockdown against the public ppl won’t be getting the booster especially given all of sudden apparently now an omicron jab

lucy_carroll marywardy 260 kids is a huge number for 2 week hospitalisation. Imagine is schools caused that amount of kids to go to hospital instead of Govt policy?

lucy_carroll marywardy For those stats nerds out there - what is the 'actual' correlation co-efficient of not being boosted with being hospitalised

lucy_carroll marywardy Ppl started switching on their brains

lucy_carroll marywardy There's an endless covid everywhere - I've had it twice, it's impossible to read about it every day. I am a pensioner in Russia. I'm asking out of need. I feed stray cats - I can't leave them , the pension is small ($250 month), maybe you can help me? maybe cat food? maybe RT ?

lucy_carroll marywardy Seems people are waking up.

lucy_carroll marywardy I wonder how many under 60's will end up with Long Covid?

lucy_carroll marywardy People still lining up to be injected with synthesised chemicals they know nothing about. Clearly the education system no longer teaches legitimate science

lucy_carroll marywardy BradHazzard How many of the group being criticised got COVID or died before they were eligible for their 3rd dose - before Govt. dropped it to 4 month interval

lucy_carroll marywardy A lifestyle choice

lucy_carroll marywardy Presumably they all got two jabs of AZ vaccine, which wasn't great to begin with and has now worn off. The let it rip 'plan' has been an unmitigated disaster. 'Fully vaccinated' is now a meaningless classification, ignoring all the complexity of the situation. auspol
