Mr Cowan said the note appeared lucid because he had been dwelling on the thoughts for two years, but the reality was it was a sign of mental illness. After four long years of battling this illness I just can't take it anymore. I feel I have tried everything and just can't see anything but a depressed future.

Mr Cowan said there was no single thing that helped him turn his life around, but it started with the simple acting of going for a walk, which led to meditation and reconnecting with family and friends he had withdrawn from.Australia's suicide rate sits at 12.9 per 100,000 — above the World Health Organisation's global average of 10.7 — and is far more prevalent among men than women.

In particular, he said his belief that"I just can't be a burden any longer" was something that people struggled with.

'No race mixing': the everyday racism so many Asian Australians encounterFour out of five of surveyed Asian Australians have experienced discrimination, according to a study ahead of the first Asian-Australian leadership summit. There is micro-agression that is also experienced, yet i hope with the outcome (of this report) people will take upon themselves to rethink their actions when interacting with others around them. There's always uneducated bogans around who will do/say such stupid things. BUT years ago while new in Melbourne I had a very bossy, racist Asian colleague who was very rude and got away with it. She hated me for having good command of the english language. 'We' are racists too. But has she been called a terrorist!
