Kim Kardashian loves it. Australians will spend $25 per litre on it. But even as this wandering tribe faces extinction, the debate about selling their 'holy' camel milk could tear this community apart.

A litre of the milk in Australia retails for between $10 and $25 and even with that premium price tag, it sells.

Their presence is welcomed by farmers because their dung fertilises the land, while their softly padded feet do minimal damage to the ecosystem. "The community considers the camel as divine and shares a strong cultural connection with them," he says. Now, she trains young men from the Raika tribe to become camel safari guides as she tries to come up with other ways farmers can make a living from their beasts.Young men from the Raika tribe are earning money taking tourists through the desert for overnight treks.

Milking and trekking are not traditional uses for the elegant ships of the desert, but such uses may be the only way to preserve a culture on the edge of extinction. Some breeders walk their herds across the desert for weeks to come to the fair, but many predict the fair will soon be devoid of camels.
