Principal Medical Advisor at the Department of Health, Professor Michael Kidd says “the curve is flattening here in Australia” but warned “this is not a time for complacency”.

Mr Kidd told Sky News “with the reduction in the number of new infections recurring around the country, the measures which the country’s adopted and which Australians have picked up and are performing so magnificently are having their impact”. "The modeling shows that rather than having a terrible, uncontrolled epidemic that what we have is a controlled epidemic with limited number of new infections," he said.

“This is what flattening the curve is all about, keeping the number of new infections down, keeping the number of people with very serious illness at the lowest level that we possibly can and of course preventing the number of deaths that we can as well. “We have had the advantage of being able to see what was happening, how the epidemic was rolling out in other countries.

‘Alarmist media’ are prepared to ‘fuel public panic for a big headline’ | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny says while it’s hardly surprising Australia is witnessing a flattening of the coronavirus curve there are still the ever-present “alarmist headlines” from media outlets “prepared to fuel public panic and misinformation”. \n\nMr Kenny said a variety of media outlet and pundits alike, such as those from the ABC, Channel 9 and channel 10, among others, are “running sensationalist stories” which are fueling public panic on the coronavirus pandemic.\n\nHe said at a time like this, what is needed is “the cold hard facts” which can dispel circulated misinformation on the deadly pandemic. \n\nHe said the “factual message” which is delivered to the public, “should be one of reassurance, of action … government and community action, actually working to slow the spread of the virus”. \n\n“At a time of genuine crisis, I might have thought that sober analysis and sensible predictions might be more the order of the day,” instead of the “alarmist headlines,” Mr Kenny said. \n\nImage: Getty C. Kenny makes me angry! Does he pay attention to anything that is happening in other places, like the US now? Nothing is alarmist when it cones to this virus! Even with the restrictions, people still don't get it, still go to places full of others, etc. Idiotic thinking! The ABC crowd...as usual...are incorrect in their prediction of dire extinction 🤣🤣🤣Chris Kenny says...🤣🤣🤣

Those at the ABC 'aren't used to hearing frank, mainstream assessments' | Sky News AustraliaThe ABC’s Insiders panel chat program is “relentlessly anti-conservative” and “makes a mockery” of the national broadcaster’s claim to objectivity and diversity says Sky News host Chris Kenny. \n\nHe said regular viewers of the program would “know only too well the panel is usually filled by green left journalists” and “small 'L'” liberals.\n\nMr Kenny said a recent guest on the program, The Australian's National Affairs Editor Simon Benson, would have provided some frank, mainstream assessments those at the ABC wouldn't have been 'used to'. \n\nMr Benson had said 'Scott Morrison is emerging as one of the most capable prime ministers this country has seen for a long time'. \n\n'It's not the sort of thing they're used to hearing on the ABC,' Mr Kenny said. \n\n They wouldn't let Chris on, huh? The Queen provides a 'refreshing take' on the coronavirus pandemic | Sky News AustraliaThe Queen has provided a 'refreshing contrast' to the usual coronavirus 'doom-mongering' perpetuated through the media and political classes says the editor of Spiked Online Brendan O’Neill. \n\nIn an historic address to the nation recorded inside Windsor Castle, the monarch said 'together we are tackling this disease and I want to reassure you that if we remain united and resolute, then we will overcome it.'\n\nThe Queen also drew on her experience of wartime spirit to call on the UK to 'remain united and resolute' to overcome the coronavirus crisis.\n\n'We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return: we will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again,' she said.\n\n'I found her message very moving actually,' Mr O'Neill told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. \n\n'I really liked it actually'. \n\n'What was really striking about it was that it was such a refreshing contrast to what we've been hearing from a lot of the media class and the political class'. \n\nHe said a real 'defeatist attitude and atmosphere' as permeated society which is having the effect of 'scaring a lot of people and spreading a lot of fear'. \n\nMr O'Neill also said the recent admission of hospital of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is 'pretty worrying ... (and) very serious'. \n\n\n\n I thought her speech was very appropriate and touching and for 93 doesn’t she look great?
