Taking out the trash is not a fun chore, but Labor and the LNP have been spending an inordinate amount of time rubbishing each other’s garbage-collection policies.

Taking out the rubbish is a necessary and not terribly fun chore – unless you’re my kids, who have a fascination with garbage trucks.

The LNP administration already has a trial using green-top bins involving 13,000 households, with the bins collected fortnightly, with the LNP claiming Labor’s plans would be too expensive and unworkable – a claim denied by Labor.Food waste in red-top residential bins ends up in landfill, where it creates greenhouse gases, whereas in a food waste collection program, it is processed into compost to be used by farmers and in gardens.
