A senior Gold Coast police officer is acquitted of perjury after a judge instructed a jury to find her not guilty for giving false testimony to the Crime and Corruption Commission.

A senior Gold Coast police officer has been acquitted of perjury after a judge instructed a jury to find her not guilty.

At the start of Superintendent Stenner's retrial, the prosecution alleged she gave false testimony to a Crime and Corruption Commission hearing in 2017. Superintendent Stenner defended the allegations, with her lawyers telling the court it was clear in the recordings — which were played during the trial — that she made mistakes, but she was not deliberately untruthful. On Friday, instead of sending the jury out to deliberate, Judge David Kent told the jurors he had determined there was insufficient evidence the alleged untruths were "material" to a proceeding, which is legally required for a guilty verdict.

Can they just bugger off and become another counrty, like they've always wanted? Thank you MarkMcGowanMP Now I don't have to deal with my idiot brother visiting from QLD. More than 2,000 cases today in Vic and NSW up as well.
