Australia Latest News, Australia Headlines

Now Ms Harrison is in the US with a team of travel specialists trying to undo the damage.

Tourism Australia is scrambling to undo the damage to the industry by the bushfires and the subsequent media coverage. All around the world travel companies have seen a drop in inquiries about travel to Australia. People have cancelled believing the animals they want to see won't be there. Also, they are concerned after seeing TV news pictures of smoke covering Sydney and Melbourne.Ms. Harrison, along with Jane Whitehead, the head of Tourism Australia for the Americas, started the push in Los Angeles this week.

They have also prepared a video with ordinary Aussies saying "our doors are open and we'd love to see you".The message to people here in the U.S. is this, according to Harrison: "The most popular destinations, namely the Great Barrier Reef , Uluru, most of the Blue Mountains, Sydney and Melbourne are unaffected. So, it is reminding people that things they want to see are there and actually haven't been impacted at all.

Greenie leftie propaganda perpetuated by the media hello ninenewsAUS you’ve done a good job

We’re coming !!

Of course the hyperbole coming from the Australian media & the Opposition Leader screaming 'national emergency' didn't have any impact on tourism, did it? This was a concerted effort to promote the climate change hoax & damage our economy. Hang your head in shame. 9News

Make pay till it REALLY HURTS!

Then wef course, there was this clanger on the left that went viral n clowns like Rhianna were tweeting out to their followers o/s. N the usual idiots here on the left were supporting n agreeing with it as accurate. Complete lies!!

Total blame belongs on the media at all levels for their overly dramatic reporting.

You and your mates perpetrated the myth. Now you’re bleating about it. Hardly surprising trust in journalism is so low.

That's why I get all my accurate news from Twitter.

markdotcomau Most American TV stations are FAKE NEWS

All we need to do, is what has been recommended to do, in the myriad of investigations that they've had, after many of the bushfires in the past! the pollies, as a collective & councils, have gone out of their way, to prevent the recommendations being carried out!

We don't have news anymore. We have fictional reporting with carefully chery picked vision to promote maximum socialist activists propaganda to further their causes

Well! You guys in the MSM have been doing your your bit to talk down Australia! You have talked alarmism for years & now we have supposedly a dead reef in FNQ! Ask them how tourism is going!

I’m sure your exaggerated reporting and catastrophic news headlines didn’t help either

Channel Nine still showing ads with their personnel pleading for donations for the burnt flora and fauna

Australian media or a lot of them have a lot to answer for. Just hope tourist companies pull their advertising dollars. If that happened this false news would never happen again.

Most of the overblown reports & alarmist rhetoric is from MSM and especially 9NewsMelb 9NewsSyd - Channel 9 pushing the 'Climate Change' agenda & rapidly drifting to the LEFT. Have always watched 9NewsMelb & ACurrentAffair9, now switched over to 7NewsMelbourne

Media not doing their jobs properly, nothing new. Helping the population become more divisive.

The truth doesn't fit the lefties' narrative.

Well that’s because the mad leftists all started screaming the whole country is on fire due to climate change. People like you nutjobs.

Is that Russell Coight?

This is why the msm are on the nose. They have done nothing but direct hate towards the PM throughout the bush fire disaster. I won't watch again.

Well if our media and the lefties didn’t beat it up in the first place it wouldn’t have such a me gd stone effect.

Thank you Latika Bourke sydneymorningherald

Oh great.

Blame the media for this one🤦🏻‍♀️

About time you green hypocritical doomers that continually broadcast extreme hyperbole, abuse the word inprecidented and make up the most obvious (to Aussies) fake news take responsibility for the damage you do to our tourism industry. chrissmithonair PMLIVE credlin

You’re just as bad, and you live here 🙄😡

And just whose fault is that ! The media went OTT with all this fuck me - I cannot believe you have said this when it’s your fault!

What are going to do? Fake news create damage.

jack_lindon A result of Woke media taking over the news...now the woke crowd deny it...

Thanks Media.

All the MSM are to blame including

FakeMap = FakeViews = FakeNews. Which lead's us to tourism being our 'economic saviour' & MSM role in effing it.

More fake maps from the media👎👎😠😠 this one just the other day totally wrong , no wonder tourism may suffer & it's the usual enemy , the friggin media!! ☹️☹️

Trump is known for fake maps.

Jr3597 Actually this is the only one I go by...from the ISS...from space...very clear and...no...not the whole country...

And we have YOU JOURNALISTS to blame for over dramitizing and showing inaccurate pictures!

Why is you calling it an 'incorrect bushfire map'? Call it what it is, a fake map meant to make it appear as though climate change was destroying Australia. No mention of arsonists, or bushfires being regular events.

Lol how many Americans are holidaying here? 😂😂Rich ones

Taxpayers funded abcnews and SBSNews are to blame. The ABC taking almost 20 min of the 30 min news bulletin showing mostly people crying and burned properties. Scaring Tourism has costed jobs and hurt many small businesses. The ABC and SBS must be cleaned up by the government

You drove this hysteria... You guys are MASSIVE hypocrites

Better for donations though

That's why majority of people take the MainStreamMedia with a grain of salt. auspol

Ah well. Who cares about industry, jobs, people lives etc given we are in a climate emergency. Don't these tourist operators understand they are robbing Greta of her childhood? How dare they.

Yet the AUSTRALIAN media DID NOT CORRECT them. The public were pointing it out immediately. Why didn't you guys say anything? What was your motive in maintaining the obfuscation? Who provided the FAKE news to begin with?

I think there is a lot of work to be done to show that Australia is doing something to protect wildlife in general (including the forests and reefs). Sadly, even before the fires, Australia promotes its wildlife as a tourism draw while doing very little to actual protect it.

Great work, MattZarrell ABC... hope you're proud of yourself 😠

Published by that impeachable (why did I use that word) source, CNN? Who would have guessed.

Well ! Who do we blame ? The Media and the lazy journalists who don't report facts ! All the media did during the bushfires was scaremongering. NB: Reporting nonfactual information has consequences !

True true not all of Australia got burnt👍🙂 lots of places to see & explore & experience we need people to come see our Beautiful Country

Fake News strikes again No thought given to the consequences

Our awful arson crisis.

Morrison didn't 'act quickly enough' during bushfire crisis | Sky News AustraliaLabor frontbencher Joel Fitzgibbon says “no one” in Australia believes Prime Minister Scott Morrison “acted quickly enough” in response to the bushfire crisis. \n\nMr Morrison will look to change legal powers allowing prime ministers to have the ability to declare natural disasters and call on the Defense Force rather than waiting for the states to ask for assistance.\n\n“Now he is trying to blame a process that is not broken,” Mr Fitzgibbon told Sky News. \n\n“What’s implicit in what the prime minister is saying is he knows better than state leaders, well that’s a big call and again I think that’s just another distraction.\n\n“The events over the summer show the prime minister acted too late himself… he was very slow to act. \n\n“He downplayed the fires when people were appealing for more assistance for volunteer firefighters, he told the country they are happy and have the resources they need.”\n\nImage: News Corp Australia fitzhunter ScottMorrisonMP Thankfully Labor wasn’t in charge or there would have been an even bigger mess as history has shown us. fitzhunter ScottMorrisonMP easy, he was in the middle of ordering another strawberry margarita in Hawaii. fitzhunter ScottMorrisonMP You know I swear we had State Governments in this fair nation of ours whose responsibility it actually is. I like fitzhunter, so I’ll be kind & say that he probably knows this & is just trying to pull a fast one. As fast as he can now say “ I like coal” in his marginal seat!
