Mining entrepreneur Bill Beament has nothing but praise for Premier Mark McGowan’s handling of the pandemic.

For Mr McGowan, who comes from NSW, it’s a delicate balance.

Life has been relatively normal. Schools and offices have barely shut as the economy roared back to life, with WA state final demand around six per cent higher than pre-pandemic levels.that while the reopening transition “won’t be perfect”, the government had the benefit of learning from the experiences of other states and had invested an extra $3.2 billion in the health system.

Just last week, the Australian Medical Association’s WA arm warned the health system could be “busted” unless enough people got a booster shot before February 5 amid ongoing reports of staff shortages and ambulance ramping.Advertisement “We are in an amazing position. Opening our borders at 90 per cent-odd double vax for 12-year-olds plus -- there’s nowhere else anywhere in the world that’s had that.“

And I think we have reached peak stupid! It's not even about sense or saving lives anymore. It's purely about complying with demands, regardless of any scientific backing. How would these restrictions on unvaccinated individuals be legal outside a declared state of emergency? 'Performative parochialism' leaves WA chained shutA top Western Australian lawyer has lashed out at Premier Mark McGowan after he slammed borders shut to the whole of Australia, declaring every state and territory in the country an 'extreme risk'. If McGowan, or any premier, can’t understand that they are part of one nation, and that they should act in the interests of the nation first, they shouldn’t be in that role. Are you seriously abusing the WA premier for wanting to stay out of the shitshow that is the rest of the country? Far out, why wouldn't he? I'm not sure if you're paying attention, but every other state is pretty much stuffed at the moment!
