At The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, the perfume of 70 types of flowering sweet peas in the trial garden is the whiff of memories for visitors.

Across Sydney, parks and gardens resonate with spring smells ranging from jasmine to wisteria, including a large arbour in Chatswood’s Muston Park. It takes 18 months to prepare each spring paper daisy show, an increasingly popular attraction since the flowers, native to Western Australia, were first planted in 1996.Paper daisy varieties at the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan.At the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden in Mount Tomah, they’re blowing a bulb; more than 150,000 flowers are blooming there.

Gawler Warrior by Tasmanian company Australian Sweet Pea Specialists was also growing vigorously. It has deep mauve, sweetly scented flowers. Mr Fothergrills’ Harbinger was the best of the bi-colour flowers.
