In a warehouse inside Sydney's largest prison, a makeshift hospital is being constructed. They hope that what they're waiting for will never arrive | rachelclun

In a warehouse inside Sydney's largest prison, a makeshift hospital is being constructed. They hope that what they're waiting for will never arrive.

Dr Blogg said from mid-January they began planning on how to keep the virus out of prisons with the help of Corrective Services NSW. Normally, Ms Prior and her team of 40 provide health assessments for each new inmate and look after any health concerns of the roughly 1100 inmates temporarily housed at the centre. Even without COVID-19, the work can be "quite chaotic and quite busy", she said.

Every day, staff have their temperature checked on entry. Long Bay Correctional Centre governor Jason Hodges said he had no problem sending home staff who were unwell.
