As the JobKeeper program nears its end next month, four groups pitch their ideas for what could replace it.

With the JobKeeper payments due to finish at the end of March, economists and hard-hit industries are pitching their ideas for what should replace the wage subsidy.

Unlike JobKeeper, it's not linked to businesses keeping employees, but rather the money would go to businesses that already have bank loans they are struggling to pay back for COVID-related reasons."We've got to target this to the music sector, to the events sector, to the tourism sector, to make sure these businesses stay open," COSBOA CEO Peter Strong said.

The businesses wouldn't need to pay it back in a specific time, but rather when revenue had recovered.
