Analysis: The laws imposed by Beijing are broader than the extradition bill that triggered city-wide protests last year | ErykBagshaw

China has brought key parts of its judicial system to Hong Kong, instead of extraditing the accused to China.Despite not being publicly released, statements made by officials since Beijing's National People's Congress in May reveal the new laws will establish mainland national security agencies in Hong Kong for the first time and criminalise acts of secession, subversion and collusion with foreign powers.

But the vote, which was held on the last day of a three-day meeting of the standing committee, is likely to trigger a fresh wave of domestic and international unrest over the future of Hong Kong. The US Department of Commerce suspended export licence exceptions, defence exports and commercial and military technology sharing arrangements with the global financial hub on Tuesday morning.

"We urge Beijing to immediately reverse course and fulfil the promises it has made to the people of Hong Kong and the world," said US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross.

ErykBagshaw It’s a shame I used to enjoy visiting HK. Now they are controlled by the ruling elite Communists. China’s just North Korea but being nice chinasucks

ErykBagshaw Anyone know if there will there be a protest march today or soon in any Australian cities?

ErykBagshaw colonial period ended

ErykBagshaw Ironically and veritably, today is definitely NOT the end of Hong Kong, it is the Great day for greater Hong Kong, and the end of violent HK thugs and their accomplices.

ErykBagshaw The city that was driven to the ground by the rioters who murdered, beaten, vandalised, & set ppl on fire for daring to voice a different opinion? Thank goodness.

ErykBagshaw Why do we never hear a quote from the Hong Kong majority?

ErykBagshaw There will never be a HK like a one under British rule. Glory days.

ErykBagshaw Everyone should be happy surely. The British colonial era in China is finally over. 🤷🏻‍♂️

ErykBagshaw Given that majority of Hong Kongers are pure blood Chinese and itsn't a colony of China like Taiwan, Tibet, and Mongolia with their own indigenous people. What's the problem?

ErykBagshaw The wisdom of CCP, Always have a clear goal

ErykBagshaw nothing to worry about if they dont go to the streets

ErykBagshaw HK people have our respect. David v's Goliath battle

Dozens arrested at 'silent protest' in Hong Kong against proposed security lawThe proposed national security law raises concerns among Hong Kong democracy activists and some foreign governments that Beijing is further eroding the city's autonomy. Good, lock these US paid traitors up... Get tough like the US... Where are all the comments on the protests. Hello? Hello? Racist Bots didnt pick up this one. Strange. You know what, you know your reporting is unvias as possible though. Youll get hate from both sides. So theres that for you guys. Today families and friends may still be able to pick up the arrested outside police stations. Once the law is enforced, whoever gets arrested will be at risk of being disappeared or sent to China for secrete prosecution. Just like how CCP has been treating HumanRights lawyers
