How a scammer fleeced a Sydney couple out of thousandsIt was around midday last Wednesday when the call came through on Catherine* and her husband Peter&x27;s* landline at their Sydney home. It's terrible but why do people give any information over phone or computer to someone they don't know, or download anything someone is telling you too even if its a real call treat the call as a scam. These fkers regularly call us on our landline. We have a builtin answering machine in our home ( 4 handsets ) & I use it to screen the calls . They never leave a message. Occasionally we pickup and we get fakeNBN , fakeBANK or fakeTelstra ... my response to them is 'FO'. Only pple I've ever allowed to have remote access to our computers is Dell , on the rare occasion when I strike an issue where I need a Dell tech's assistance (I usually sort the issues out myself , so this is restricted to hardware faults, or s/ups , and I never leave the room).
